Last week, to protest the cancellation of MTV’s “I Just Want My Pants Back,” fans of the show went to the Viacom buildings in New York and Los Angeles, and left their pants there. Five hundred pairs of pants, all told, because taking off and ditching their pants “represent the impact the show has had on them,” which makes me both confused and aroused. Also, it begs use of one of my favorite “Simpsons” quotes: “Don’t you hate pants?”
I appreciate the efforts of these “Pants”-less fans, but couldn’t they have picked a better show to campaign for? (the Deadline article ends with, “Among its supporters is MTV’s…Snooki.”) Here’s a brief ranking of other notable fan protests, listed by how much the show deserved to be saved.
1. “Arrested Development” – banana crates
2. “Community” – Rockefeller Center flash mob
3. “Friday Night Lights” – light bulbs and eye drops
4. “Veronica Mars” – 10,000 Mars Bars
5. “Better Off Ted” – 500 Veridian Dynamics key chains
6. “Jericho” – 20 tons of peanuts
7. “Chuck” – eating at Subway
8. “Roswell” – 6,000 bottles of Tabasco sauce (so low because Tabasco’s terrible)
9. “Entourage” – douches
That last one didn’t actually happen, but it could have.

I Just Want My Pants Back was a million times better that the non funny suckfest on HBO, Girls. If Pants had been on HBO, it’d be the number one comedy on tv right now. I’m all for anything that gives me more of Kim Shaw, who played Tina on Pants.
I’ve never even heard of this show, but I’m glad someone agrees w/ me about Girls.
Girls is horrendous.
My girlfriend watched that show when it came on because it shot in our neighborhood, and she has to watch EVERYTHING that shoots in our neighborhood, and even she gave up on it fairly quickly.
Did anyone else read that in the style of Homeless Dad?
I’m just saying, I bet he’d appreciate those pants.
Looking at that pic, I’m considering protesting their fashion sense.
I’d be much more supportive of this protest if I owned a boat and needed rags to clean it with.
It makes me feel pretty old that I have never heard of this show until now.
/get off my lawn!
I’d never heard of it either and I don’t feel old for it at all.
I have so many other reasons to feel old, this doesn’t even register.
Don’t take it personally. MTV’s the one who changed. You’re still beautiful.
I hate to think what they’d leave at Viacom if “Teen Mom” was somehow cancelled.
Or Toddlers and Tiaras for that matter.
I bet fake placenta in baggies …. too far?
Seriously, though, what is this show?
It’s about pants and hipsters and hipsters wearing pants.
Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles got a mobile billboard:

“Don’t you hate pants!”
i actually thought this show was really funny, not enough to give mtv my hard earned pants though…
