On July 15th, the final season of “Breaking Bad” will kick off. It’s a two-part final season, broken up into eight episodes apiece, and obviously, filming has already begun on the first part (speculation has it that the final half of the season will begin filming in November). This is what we know: A new Big Bad has not been cast to replace Gus Fring (Giancarlo Espisito) leading to speculation (at least my own) that Walter White will transform from dark anti-hero to full-blown villain. What we also know, at least according to a Tweet from Aaron Paul — who plays Jesse Pinkman — is that the final season will be “a bloodbath.” A bloodbath obviously suggests that people will die, and since there have been no major casting announcements for the final season, we can assume that the people who will die are regular cast members, characters who have been on the show for several seasons.
So, we can then assume that one or more of the major characters will die in the final season. My question? Who do you think is most likely among the major characters to die? Answer our poll question, and in the comments, explain why? Personally, I think Saul is an automatic, but the dark horse candidate for first to die is Marie, a death that will further motivate Hank to apprehend — and maybe even kill — Walt White.

Mike has to die. He seems too cool to make it all the way through
I agree Saul is a goner.
Jesse, maybe? Does Walter kill him?
Jesus, it’s like fucking Game of Thrones, anyone can bite it in any way at any time.
See I think Walter dies and its either Jessie or Mike who does it. Walter has to die
Its funny, but for a show I love so much, there are a lot of characters i want to see die. I think Walt will be killed in the end, but I’m really hoping that Marie, Skylar and Walt Jr. all die 2 seasons ago.
This poll should have been Who Else *Besides* Walt Dies? Because, duh.
I think the baby eats it.
Yep, Walter has to die. The hero becomes the villain and villains can never survive. Or in the very least survive intact. Maybe Junior is put in a position where he has to choose between Mom or Dad. Mom wins, Dad dies.
Vic Mackey anyone?
A hopeless desk job and a divorce. Sound intact to you?
Moreso than the bad guy in No Country for Old Men, but I get your point. That seems to be the way that they kill villans, though. It’s a bit too predictable, but I like how in the Shield they turned Shane from the bad guy into somewhat of a sympathetic figure and just took Vic Mackey off the rails.
The McNulty route is another good way to end a hero turned villan, something of an epiphany for him and turning into something good. I can see Walt doing something like that, killing Jesse but then personally helping his next screw up Chemistry student.
Oh, and Marlo Stanfield and Maurice Levy? How were they not villans that survived almost perfectly intact to a fault?
Clay Davis too…but I guess that was the point of The Wire. The bad guys win.
I still think that the finale of the The Shield is the most satisfying ending for any TV show ever. More show runners should take note on how to finish out strong.
Fourth and final seasons of The Shield were pretty damn good. They were utterly soul crushing in a sort of “everyone loses” kind of way. That last scene kept me wanting more, whereas the finale of The Sopranos made me think “Well the Wire definitely buttfucks this.” That’s how you get a purposeful cliffhanger ending.
Am I the only one who doesn’t think Tony died at the end of Sopranos… I thought the purpose of the ending was just to show that even after all that drama it was just another day. Oh well I may have completely missed the boat on it.
Marlo survived but lost all his real estate investments in the 2008 housing debacle. Maurice’s wife was gonna chop his dick off and eat it, but that was gonna be in season 6…. so… they didn’t get to it.
Touche’ Mr. Wonderbread, touche’.
If they kill Saul Goodman Danger and I will team up to sue AMC and Vince Gillian for intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Walt kills Hank. Jesse kills Walt.
Then I kill you.
^^^ Made my day, Thank you Omar ^^^
All in the game, all in the GAME!
If Kenard comes by later I will cry myself to sleep for breaking up that combo.
I think you’re all crazy. First off, Saul and Mike will certainly survive the whole series. With Fring’s death, they were sent a message and both are too smart -in their own ways- to fuck with Walt ever again. While neither has a conscience, neither has aspirations towards the throne, so they will be loyal soldiers. Hank will die because he’s already too close to the truth. As for the ultimate resolution of the series, Walt will NOT die, providing his entire family does. That would be worse than death and a fitting punishment for the character. What’s twisted is that it will be Walt who has them killed. Mark it, June 14, 2012.
Saul is a cockroach he lives… I want Skyler to kill Hank… I also want Walt to get news he may be full blown cancer and get life in prison heading in thinking he will spend 3 months in a hospital wing only to be completely cancer free and have to rot in a prison cell.
I think Walt’s cancer is back in full force, he kinda shrugged off that last appointment pretty fast, so I think in the last scene we flash forward another year and Walt dies in the hospital alone. Also Hank dies, Mike dies, Walt Jr. dies (Godfather 3 style) and Skyler leaves Walt and takes the baby.
Or Jesse will relapse and go on a meth binge and act out his favorite scene from HBO’s Rome and take a literal blood bath…
Or the final season of the 4th season of Dexter.

My reaction when I read this tweet.
I think Walt kills Marie but blames Mike, Hank kills mike finds out it was really Walt and then Walt kills him. Walt goes all crazy and kills Jesse for not wanting to cook anymore, then Walt Jr. kills Walt.
Marie dies in a horrific complaining accident, Walter Jr. slips in the shower and falls without his life alert and Walt and Jesse die in a lab explosion because Jesse comes to work high.
I agree with Morton. Walt lives, everyone else dies. The show’s about him, and his trajectory into becoming a villain, which he isn’t fully at yet. He needs to lose/cause the death of someone personally close to him. I don’t think he’s going to go Keyser Soze on his family, but I do think that they will all die and leave him alone on the iron throne.
Yup, Walt isn’t too evil to be redeemable, people die randomly and shockingly.
When it finally looks like Walt has won the cancer takes him.
Jesus, clear as mud. Not irredeemable, not beyond redemption. Anyways, Walt is a good guy to me.
Walt, Hank, Marie, and Skyler laugh at a fat guy, go to jail, and everybody complains.
It’s all just Walt Jr’s dream
Walt kills Hank. Marie kills Walt.
Hank acquires minerals, disregards Marie.
“Hank acquires minerals, disregards Marie”
Jesus. I laughed way too hard at that.
last season needs to hurry up and get on netflix watch instantly.
Amen! Been driving me freakin nuts waiting for it
AMC is currently re-running the entire series, two episodes every night, so they should get to the 4th season a week or so prior to the 5th season premier
walter jr dies. his ms catches up to him.
It’s hard to imagine any scenario where this season doesn’t become Walt v. Jesse. Add Hank and Mike to that and the situation becomes very combustible…
I think Walt wasting away alone in a hospital all alone would be a poignant ending, on par with Omar’s ignominious exit on The Wire.
I hope he winds up with Tio’s bell.
I can make all kinds of bold predictions, but I think I’ll just stick with the characters that I think are most likely to die:
–Walter’s Brother-in-law
–Walter’s wife
–Walter’s son
I imagine his wife will die last of these three, that way she can bitch about their deaths for a while before she goes.
I definitely think Walter will have to sacrifice either his life or his family by the end of the show as that seems the only rational direction at this point. However part of me would secrelty love to see the show end with Walter outsmarting the entire Crystal Meth game and coming out clean. He then blackmails Elliot Schwartz in order to take over Gray Matter so the White family starts rolling in the dough and live the high life.
Yes, this is something I was thinking of. Now that Walt is King he might have his revenge on Elliot and take back Grey Matter and bang Gretchen just for the hell of it.
wow yeah… I ever thought about Walt going after Elliot and Grey Matter that would be an interesting development
Walter is definitely going to die to complete the cycle of guy trying to noble yet questionable thing, becoming consumed by that thing, and then sacrificing himself in redemption. Personally, I just want him to die a scumbag.
Vince Gilligan has been saying it´s like scarface.
Walt dies and he takes a lot of people with him.
My prediction is that Walt Jr. will die (probably in an auto accident – we went through too much watching him get his car), which will cause Walter to behave so erratically that he starts making mistakes, and has to start killing to stay alive.
That would be interesting. Doesn’t cause the death, but the death causes him to go full Scarface
I’ve said it before, Walter is going to die from the cancer. Not to say it’s going to be an easy road before then and he’s probably going to think he’s in the clear. I just feel it is the right punishment for someone who goes on about control.
Jesse lives, Saul is dead, Hank is dead, Mike lives and works for Walt (right?) and I’m going to say Skylar Dies.
Hahaha. And the whole show took place in a fucking snow globe.
Everyone but Saul and Mike die, show ends with Saul pulling out of town and setting up shop in Nevada. Cut to “And thats why I fight for you, Reno!!!!” Better call Saul.
