Season three of The Walking Dead kicks off in October. The marketing team at AMC is wisely exploiting the show’s two biggest new assets: The Governor (David Morrissey) and Michonne, the katana-wielding character who was introduced in silhouette at the end of last season. The show has a lot riding on these two: The Governor’s plotline is the heart of The Walking Dead graphic novels, and Michonne is easily the most exciting new character introduced to the show’s universe so far, an ultra-cool motherf—er who hasn’t met a zombie head she couldn’t casually remove.
The first unspoken rule of badassery, of course, is to speak with your actions and not your words, in that regard, Michonne exhibited total badassery in season two finale, saving Andrea from a two zombies. In this first footage from season three — introduced in an episode of The Talking Dead last night ahead of Comic Con — three zombies stand between Michonne and a couple of aspirin.

YES.
She just might replace ol’ Crossbow McRedneck as my favorite character.
It’s cool to see a person as the stalker and a zombie as the prey.
It’s cool to see a character that’s more about killing zombies than bitching about trivial things.
I look forward to seeing her and the crossbow redneck get their bang on.
AMC had a Walking Dead marathon over the weekend. Holy smokes season 2 was bad. If they don’t kill off Lori at the end of prison arc i’m gonna be ultra p.o’d.
I like that people think this show won’t be terrible all of a sudden because some chick with a ninja sword shows up.
It seriously improved my 4th of July BBQ. Should help here.
I have to agree with Chazz Goodtimes on this one. There were so many problems with “TWD” from a storytelling, writing point of view – they’re almost too numerous to list here. I love the zombie genre, and REALLY wanted to like this show – but it’s practically unwatchable.
If by some miracle it improves dramatically in Season Three, I hope someone will post their comments on this blog, and make a case for watching it again.
Fuckin AMC, is there another video.
the real question is…. will she invent a time machine and fix the shitty writing after episode 3 of season 1????
“The Governor’s plotline is the heart of The Walking Dead graphic novels”
Then Season 3 seems like a reasonable time to bring it up.
I hate this show that I had to click on the link, go to the comments without reading the article, and say how shitty everything about it (except for the first two episodes) is. Fire every writer, kill at least 7 main characters and introduce 7 more (NO KIDS) and focus on zombies and storytelling, not feelings and bad choices.

I don’t know if I agree with the Governor plotline being the heart of the graphic novels. It’s more of a turning point/shit-gets-real moment. I’d say the heart of the novels has more to do with the attempt to hold on to humanity as individuals and a society when there’s no hope in sight.
I also think that’s why some people have issues with the show. I know there are other valid criticisms of the show (and I’m not discounting them), but I feel like there’s a solid number of people who wanted the show to be 99% constant zombie killing and have been repeatedly disappointed because that’s not what it’s about. The comics make it fairly obvious that the show was never going to go that way.
@Leigh: My problems have nothing to do with zombie killing. My problems are that the characters are for the most part, not very bright, and horribly irritating. Then to make matters worse, these characters will stake out positions that contain no logic or even a morsel of common sense (i.e. Lori) then she’ll enter into seemingly interminable debates with another character about this ridiculous issue. Those conversations seemed to comprise 2/3 of each episode. Meanwhile other characters will literally not be developed at (i.e. T-Dawg) or underutilized (i.e Daryl). There was no forward momentum in the narrative. It seemed like last season took place entirely on Walton’s Mountain – looking for the missing girl. There was very little sense of dread. It was an entire season of annoying people sitting around on a farm, having ridiculous conversations or doing extraordinarily dumb things (i.e lowering Glen into a well).
Finally, you very rarely actually saw any zombies – which seemed strange on a show about a zombie apocalypse. I could go on, but I’ll stop there. I watched it for a 1 1/2 seasons. They lost me about midway through Season 2. I just couldn’t take any more. I decided I’d happily watch a re-run of virtually anything (“Fringe”, “Louie”, “Boardwalk Empire”, “Breaking Bad”) rather than sit through more “Walking Dead”.
If they make radical changes to the way they write the show, I’ll give it another chance. Until then, no thanks.
That’s why I said there were other valid criticisms of the show. There is definitely room for improvement in several areas.
My major issue with the show is that the characters are shittier versions than those in the comic book. Andrea is a total bad ass in the book but just kind of a bitch on the show. Carl is not just a total asshat in the book and actually has some interesting story lines beyond wandering away from the group and screwing everyone over. Lori sucks in both, but absolutely more so on the show. I think they’re probably trying to round them out, but they just kind of made none of them all that likable. Except Daryl, who has convinced me to reacquaint myself with my white trash relatives because they will be super handy in case of a zombie-pocalypse.
“We love you Daryl! Make love to me Daryl, please!”
It’s true and he didn’t even save the town from Scuzzlebutt.
@warrenbishop you have the attention span of a fruit fly, you can nit pick any show. try watching the whole thing before you critique
