The Emmy Nominations will be announced on Thursday morning, and it’s never too early to get your knickers in a bunch over what will and will not be nominated, as well as reminiscing about all the shows that have been snubbed over the years. Today, we’ll start with the reminiscing by ranking the 15 Best Shows Never Nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Drama or Comedy Series Category. I do have a feeling that things will turn around for one show on this list (number five), which can expect an Emmy nomination in the Best Comedy category.
15. Terriers (0 Nominations in Any Category)

14. Sons of Anarchy — One Nomination for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music

13. Doctor Who — O Nominations

12. Buffy the Vampire Slayer — Nominations for visual effects, make-up, hairstyling, sound editing, and writing.

11. Battlestar Galactica — Nominations and Wins for writing, directing, sound mixing, sound editing, and costumes.

And, as ever, #1 completely invalidates the award and allows us all to ignore it forever.
Oh indeed.
PREACH.
I had to click through thrice just to make sure this was the first comment.
I logged in just to yell at you for not including It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the funniest show to never get an Emmy nom, bar none. Turn around and receive your wedgie.
Unless it somehow got one and I didn’t notice. Which is possible. The Emmies are idiotic and irrelevant.
Completely agree, and not just because I’m afraid that you’ll give me a swirlie if I don’t.
add me to the Always Sunny group. How Charlie or DeVito have never gotten a nom either is an outrage
“The Emmies are idiotic and irrelevant.”…. but somehow worth 3 clicks. Yay blogging! Props for correct pluralization, tho.
I think the Emmies are idiotic and irrelevant, but I clicked all the way through because I’m loyal to the blog and enjoy the writing. I think CMT’s new shows are irrelevant, but I liked reading that post, too.
Well… yer all irrelevant!

This last scene goes on forever!
I think “The Wire” was never nominated for Best Drama, while a show like “Mad Men” is literally showered with awards is two-fold. First “Mad Men” is very self-congratulatory, you watch the sexism, homophobia, racism and think “look how far we’ve come as a country” – where “The Wire” is very self-critical and chronicles a period in American history where we stopped being able to solve (in some cases even recognize) our problems.
“Mad Men” is very chic and stylish, “The Wire” is very gritty, and focuses on the problems of the urban poor – which apparently the Emmy voters don’t care about. (eventhough “The Wire” is about much larger issues)
Don’t get me wrong, I love “Mad Men” – I’m using it as an example of what appeals to Emmy voters.
All those award shows (especially the Oscars) are pretty ridiculous. They rarely reward things that are truly outstanding, exceptional or visionary.
Everyone on Mad Men is pretty. No one on The Wire is pretty
Everyone who votes on who wins Emmys were in their primes during the Mad Men era. To them, they’re voting to show how awesome “their time” was compared to ours.
Old people suck.
all of the original post…plus raycism
I’d add Deadwood was nominated for a bunch of things, but never best Drama.
It was nominated for Best Drama in 2005.
Timothy Elephant would have won if it wasn’t for Walter White pwning the whole thing every year.
Maybe “Community” could get a nomination if it were funny.
*ducks for cover*
Community is so good a show, NBC can’t wait to cancel it. I imagine the NBC execs saying something like, “Let’s move it to Friday nights and fire the creative mastermind. So when the ratings tank and everyone says it’s not as good as it use to be, we can cancel it!” Great job NBC. I’m sure Animal Practice will be the next Seinfeld.
Having Homicide: Life on the Streets behind only The Wire and including Buffy makes give this list two big fat thumbs up.
Seriously, how wasn’t Walton Goggins nominated for The Shield?
It’s Always Sunny’s lack of being listed was already complained about so no Parks and Rec?
WTF. You’re list is terrible.
Also Community should be number 2.
And fuck I used the wrong your. I should really read my comments before I post them.
just saw a different list of top 10… [www.discovertop10.com]
i actually liked that one better….Breaking Bad, Prison Break, and Lost rock!!!!
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I really love how she kicks butt. I added some cool review articles here
