At this point it’s an indictment to be recognized by the Emmys for Comedy imo. Louis just deserves so much better than to be included in a category with Jon Cryer.
I want to die.
Maske, you summed it up exactly. Why would any self respecting comedy actor want to be lumped in with this shit.
They should rename Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series to Best Supporting Actor in Modern Family.
I was going to say the same thing, what a fucking joke. It’s cool, guys. Modern Family is pretty much the cream of the crop. No need to look further than that. And how does a SNL cast member even count? Fuck an Emmy.
I love Bill Hader as much as the next guy, but this was a horrendous season of SNL and he barely delivered.
Schmidt should clean up in that category then, though, right? Poor Adam Pally, Nick Offerman, and Adam Driver
I’m surprised that the Modern Family guys don’t all cancel each other out. It’s pretty ridiculous.
Bill Hader gets a pass for Stefon, but yeah, nobody beats Ron Fucking Swanson.
Why didn’t the Emmys nominate the kids who play Manny and Luke on that show? They could’ve swept the category.
The worst part of this is that Nick Offerman was announcing the nominations this morning. I hope he didn’t have to read that list.
Luckily airplane issues stranded him in the Midwest.
Fuck. Modern. Family.
4 -FOUR- nominations for supporting actor in a comedy. I hope you’re all soon embroiled in drug/sex/arson scandals.
On the positive side, The Office received zero nominations
Yes, this was noted.
Why is The Big Bang Theory even a blip on the radar!?
<--- Ayo Emmy voters
Wait til next year when Anger Management leads the pack.
fuck you burnsy
Burnsy, you forgot the troll face.
No Ron Swanson and no writing nominees for Breaking Bad????????
I just hope it wasn’t too long ago for voters and they forget how great Breaking Bad’s 4th season was. Cranston better have that one in the bag for Crawl Space alone
1) American Horror Story having so many noms is just stupid. 2) How was it a mini series? It has a second season coming. 3) Why doesn’t the Emmys committee just save everyone time and give Ryan Murphy a lifetime achievement award?
It’s a miniseries because new cast and no location for season two.
I dunno, either.
New cast as in new characters? Because I thought some actors were carrying over into new roles.
I did enjoy how pretty much every character got nominated other than Dylan McDermott. It’s almost like they did it passive aggressively just demonstrate how shitty of an actor he is.
I guess because there won’t be ties to the last season and it’s a new location, and the actors are playing all new roles (which is kinda stupid) it can label itself a Miniseries. It’s like Masters of Horror, except every season is different rather than every episode. I don’t get why they need to have the same actors return though, what’s the point?
What about Luther? Just because a show has 6 episodes per season doesn’t mean its a mini-series.
I bet that they put themselves in that category because it’s less competition. They probably wouldn’t even be nominated if they were in drama.
Whatever, they’re just gonna’ get beat by Sherlock anyway.
Downton Abbey was a Miniseries last year and a Drama this year. I think the rules are arbitrary enough that you can submit a show for either.
Yeah, I looooove Downton Abbey, but I don’t understand how it was a miniseries last year. The first season clearly sets up the second.
At least they moved to drama this year, so it’s not total BS.
it was 13 episodes long and only Jessica Lange will be back for a starring role.
also, better than game of moans and walking dead….so….
Hader and Wiig got noms? Have SNL cast members always been eligible and I just didn’t know it? What ELSE are they not telling me!!
To be honest I think Breaking Bad has transcended the emmies… the awards should just be renamed “2ND Place Runner Up to ‘Breaking Bad’”
If it wasn’t for Dickie Bennett getting nominated I’d be throwing vases* and shit around my living room like an unbalanced heiress.
*I do not have vases
Now I don’t know much about anything, especially how Emmy nominations are chosen, but wouldn’t people think that having two nominations in the Outstanding Writing category (and one for Best Lead Actress) would warrant a nomination in the Best Comedy category? Only one show in Writing is nominated for Best Comedy. Sorry Parks & Rec, you just aren’t as funny as The Big Bang Theory. *shudders*
Yeah, I don’t quite get that myself. They won’t nominate the shows but, they’ll nominate them for writing and acting awards.
Train of thought tells me that a well written, well acted show should in theory be one of the better shows.
I’m just glad they finally corrected eight years of miscategorization and called Desperate Housewives a Comedy Series.
Biggest snub…No Arya from Game of Thrones. Maisie Williams is a kid and can act better than most adults.
No Justified is horrible too.
God I hate the Good Wife, Big Bang Theory and pretty much most if not all network TV except Parks and Rec and Community
This is America and I support this comment
No nomination for Neal McDonough, why am I not surprised. It’s a sad state of affairs when the Grammys are the edgiest of the major awards shows.
Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li may be too fresh in some peoples’ minds.
That guy walks through raindrops.
Can someone explain to me how American Horror Story is a miniseries or movie? Also, nothing for Justified? An outrage. Also, no best comedy series for Louie? Emmys blow.
I know Community stirs the drink around here, but Happy Endings was phenomenal this season and didn’t get a nom either.
EXCELLENT POINT.
Happy Endings was great but, just like Community, it skews way too young for the Emmy voters.
Also it’s funny, which seems to be poison for Emmy voters.
The drama categories aren’t so bad, but goddamn, do these people even watch comedy?!
(Yay for Sherlock, though. Benedict Cumberbatch is so getting an Emmy.)
+ one zillion points for the Pushing Daisies .gif.
/obligatory “Girls isn’t fucking funny, bad nomination, shoulda been Happy Endings’ nom…”
Would’ve rather seen Wynn Duffy get nominated than Dickie Bennet, what amazing performances that guy keeps putting into Justified. Neil McDonough as well was spectacular, even though it took me a few episodes to warm to him in that role.
No Community nods is a slap in the face. Who votes on these things? Seriously, how much complaining about the Emmy nominees can happen year in and year out before something gets shaken up? Modern Family easily had it’s worst season, and the’re absolutely no way one show should take up 70% in a category TWO YEARS IN A ROW! It’s not like they’re acting any different than they did in the pilot, also. No character growth, and no challenging (or more importantly, funny) scenes, but they’ll dominate the category every year because Emmys.
For some reason, with all of the brilliant tv that came out last year, I thought that they might actually reward some shows that deserve it. WHO FINDS JON CRYER FUNNY?!
Remedial Chaos Theory got nominated!
The sad thing is, Modern Family is not a bad show. But like you said, the newest season was the worst and it’s not like the actors are showing any development. There’s absolutely no reason for it to sweep the Emmies every single year.
MANNY MUST BE SACRIFICED. THE EMMY GODS HAVE DECIDED HE IS UNWORTHY OF THE MODERN FAMILY CAST. KILL KILL KILL
Ok, so in Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, we get Louie, Girls, 2 episodes of Parks and Rec, and Community. The Academy is saying these shows have the best stories, but only Girls is nominated for Best Comedy, because apparently the stories don’t actually matter. Fuck you, Academy.
Also, the fact that neither Danny Pudi nor Nick Offerman are nominated for Best Supporting Actor is a damn disgrace.
And like Starscream said, nothing for Happy Endings?
No Gillian Jacobs? No Danny Pudi? No Community? No Happy Endings?!!?
the emmys is the Jim Belushi of awards shows.
[25.media.tumblr.com]
We’ll see great shows recieve their due and actors/actresses win well-earned awards the day we see a “Best GIF-able Scenes in a Series” category
Guys, guys, guys. Mark Margolis was nominated for Breaking Bad for Best Guest Actor.
UNCLE TIO GOT NOMINATED FOR AN EMMY
Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner.
I can’t wait for the clip they show during the Emmys
SUCK MY DI— Ok, that’s enough.
I don’t tend to get worked up over nominations but, it is frustrating to see people not get recognition for outstanding performances. I’m pouring some out for you tonight Ron Swanson and Parks and Rec.
Modern Family and Big Bang Theory are turds. I stopped watching Modern Family this past season because it was so bad. I’ve seen some of the Big Bang Theory in syndication and it’s f*cking stupid, lowest common denominator trash. Stop praising shows and actors that aren’t that good.
Adam Scott as well. Smallest Park, the Batman breakdown, the claymation/lo-cal calzone zone- he had so many incredibly standout moments this season, all while trying to be the emotional baseline for an insane crew.
It’s nice to see that Benedict Cumberbatch took time out of his busy schedule as the dread pirate Roberts to earn an Emmy nomination.
Mark Margolis’ official reaction to his Emmy Nomination:
“Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING!!!!
*points at Emmy, shits in wheelchair*
oh yeah, no Nick Offerman or Rashida Jones or Aubrey Plaza or Retta? but we get Zoe Deschanel & Jim Parsons?!!? wtf?
Zoe is wack, ninjas watch that ish for Hannah Simone (gotdamn!) & Schmidt sayin’ funny ish.
at least they stopped putting the Office in there
Thank god Glee or The Office didn’t get nominated but I’m pissed at everything else Comedy related.
Katey Sagal? KATEY SAGAL?
No shit.
How can John Noble not get a nod?
No shit 2.
and a total shutout in best drama from the major networks. thats pretty cool. In your face uh– House, and Terra nova!
That Best Supporting Actor – Drama Series is a murder’s row. That might be the only category they got completely right.
this is my reaction to the outrage
Parks & Rec!? Community!?! COUGAR TOWN?! HAPPY ENDINGS?!?!
COME ON!
And this is the internet comforting me
[alternatebinkyality.files.wordpress.com]
great to see the love for Sherlock, but everything else is kind of bullshit.
how can charlie day not be nominated for the scene where he sees the ocean for the first time? how does sunny get completely snubbed and four (FOUR!) actors from modern family get votes for supporting comedy?
and where’s Ron Swanson or Abed or anyone good? how the fuck are you gonna tell me that Jon Cryer is one of televisions five best comedic actors.
no fringe? no doctor who? no happy endings? no community?
its insane. this guys taint.
for you – [westeroscommunitycollege.tumblr.com]
No love for Paul Rudd or Michael K. Williams for best guest actor either. Bull shit
Wait a second, how is Peter Dinklage a supporting actor. If he’s not the leading actor this season than who is? Geoffrey? Robb Stark? Bullshit.
I agree. Its an ensemblae cast, just like Mad Men. yet Jon Hamm is nominated for lead and Dinklage is support. Bullshit.
WW III, you stole my rant. What else can I now piss about regarding these shitty nods. I need a rant.
Alfie Allen was better than Dinklage this year anyway.
WW II, I believe the actors choose which category to submit themselves. I remember reading somewhere a while back that Rob Lowe always submits himself as lead actor despite always being in an ensemble.
But seriously, this category is a murderer’s row.
I really want Giancarlo Esposito to win, even though everyone is worthy. It’ll be his last shot after all, and there’s no way Gus Fring does not go down in history as one of TV’s most iconic villains.
Its as much bullshit as the Oscars.
Hey don’t worry y’all! Margaret Cho might finally get the recognition she deserves!
My reaction to all of this.
Parks & Rec?! Community?! COUGAR TOWN?!! HAPPY ENDINGS?!?!!!
the internet/fans reactions comforting me.
[alternatebinkyality.files.wordpress.com]
Wait a second – Girls is a comedy?
Fuck you, old people.
Frankly because the Emmy’s comedy selection is always so motherfucking bad I’m just happy that Community and Parks got some love in Best Writing
Sadly we have to take what we can get from the AT&T of award shows
Obvious snubs aside, its great seeing Sherlock getting some noms. And Margaret Cho and Will Arnett’s Best Guest Actress/Actor in a Comedy Series noms are AWESOME. Also, Dickie Bennet!
Peter Dinklage ain’t no supporting actor.
Not by a long shot.
This just mindblowing.
Until they roll out the “Best performance by a hot blonde actress wearing a tank top in a cold room” category, there should be absolutely no mention of Big Bang Theory.
Shouldn’t be surprised. TV awards are just flawed. You have a select demographic (old white guys) watching 1 or 2 episodes (if any) of a 13-24 episode season to determine quality. Still, the best Parks and Recreation and Community had to offer wasn’t better than anything The Big Bang Theory had? Get fucked, Emmy voters
two shows i enjoy – mad men, breaking bad. AMC thank you.
However, this year I thought mad men has been going down down and breaking bad continues to rise rise. If I were to choose between the two my nod goes to BB.
(feels like picking between your kids)
Justified deserves way more nominations than that. The whole cast brought it this season, especially Jere Burns
This is the darkest timeline.
KATHY BATES… FUCKINGTWICE????????????
that’s just really really sad.
The Emmys are quickly becoming the Grammys. Totally based on ratings and no one with taste gives a shit.
1 nomination per show in categories like writing. Mad Men is great, but 3 noms? With those rules I could argue it should just be all Breaking Bad episodes. “Box Cutter”, “Problem Dog” “Hermanos” “Crawl Space” “Face off”
*edit: multiple nominations for 1 show in a category like writing is lame
Hands down, Best Guest Actress in a Drama goes to Julia Ormond in Mad Men, cuz she knows how to keep that award nice and polished.
American Horror Story, Luther, and Sherlock count as mini-series? I don’t think I fully understand what mini-series means now.
Apparently you’re not the only one.
The Nick Offerman thing is just wrong. The category that he woudl have been nominated in is such a fascinating categroy if you look at its history. Used to be that they gave this award to Ed Norton, Barney Fife, Colonel Klink, Meathead, Radar, Lou Grant, Ted Baxter, Louie De Palma, Reverend Jim, Schneider, Kramer, Niles Crane and others who did something unique and special with their lesser screen time. Ever since Jeremy Piven won three in a row, the award is moronic.
There’s just one thing I can’t wrap my head around about this year’s nominations, how did the Academy deny Nick Offerman a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor? Have they not seen Ron Swanson’s mustache?! LOL! And don’t even get me started about the fact that Parks and Rec didn’t get a spot in the Outstanding Comedy Series category. I seriously almost chucked my computer when I found out, which would not have been good since it belongs to my boss at Dish! Well, despite what some silly award show says, Parks and Rec is still the number one comedy in my book! I even hoard past episodes on my DVR, and it grown to be quite the stash. Luckily, I have the Hopper DVR that has heaps of memory space to house my little Parks and Rec obsession. It’s not my fault that I crave the show like Ron Swanson craves steak!
Emmy’s – the britta of all awards!
So what did louie ein exactly? Im catching up on the game of thrones on my dvr
