Emotions, people. Emotions. It was impossible not to go through them all during last night's Louie: I laughed when Louie held up a sign reading "JEWS" during his talk show. I cried when his girls made a Dad Night Live card. I was excited to see David Lynch again, as well as Susan Sarandon, Paul Rudd, and Jerry Seinfeld. I was mad when Seinfeld came into the dressing room and lied and said he'd already gotten the job. I was disappointed when he didn't get the job. I felt exalted when he realized it didn't matter; he had done a damn good job and besides, F*CK LETTERMAN. Most of all, I was proud of Louie as a TV show for pulling off something as remarkable, heartbreaking, and beautiful as the "Late Show" trilogy. I wish it wasn't over.

And that every episode had at least one penis parade dance.

Not soul crushing, but want it immortalized:

The Facebook page was right. This was the best episode this show has every done.
*ever…dammit
What a great episode. Wow.
And David Lynch? Who knew?
Louie would be funny on late night, but he’s much better with his own sitcom
Question to those who have seen the episode already: Should I get drunk before I watch this? What would be the most appropriate beverage? Gin?
Vodka, definately vodka. Goose, Choopin, Belvedere.
/really likes vodka
The review was spot on, this episode really evoked a lot of different emotions from me in just a short half hour. Also, I certainly wouldn’t ever mind a Louis C.K.-hosted talk show, watching his trial run reminded me of watching the bits of the Seinfeld reunion on Curb a few years ago: oh what could’ve been.
That card his daughters made absolutely killed me.
As soon as I saw it, I said, “That spastic dance in his office is going to be a gif.”
“Its official! You suck!”
God damn you and God bless you, Todd Barry
I’m really surprised that one didn’t make the list. I love that guy.
Something something BE FUNNY BADGE, PLEASE!
I absolutely loved this arc; one of the best things that has been done on the show.
My Ben Funny badge didn’t unlock! Shenanigans!
Be Funny. Crap.
And now it did, just being slow, I guess.
They’re not quite the fine-tuned machine we’d like them to be yet.
But I demand perfection from my tongue-in-cheek blog sites (even if I can’t deliver it myself)!
Everything about this episode was gold.
Even as I was watching it, I loved the episode but the Fuck You Letterman at the end made it probably my favorite episode yet. Louie gets shit on so much he finally had a positive realization and I cheered out loud for him and gave a little fist pump.
At first I was so confused about why David Lynch would be playing this role, but after last nights episodes I can’t imagine anyone pulling it off as well.
Also, has anyone on here talked about the fact that his agent is like 14? I’m always so confused by that.
I thought the same thing. It’s the same thing I think of when I see Liz Lemon’s agent on 30 Rock
His real life agent is only like 27, so the character on the show is kind of an exaggeration of that, I think.
It got dusty this morning when I watched the show and saw how it ended. Damn it Louie, you’re supposed to make me laugh so hard I cry, not the other kind. It was brilliant TV.
This trilogy was the best. Though fictional, everything said was so true.
I thought Jay was the asshole not Letterman. great 3 episodes tho
I can’t believe no one has commented on the fact that Louie’s first fap was to Susan Sarandon. Bravo, Louie. Bravo.
Has Louis got some issues with Letterman? Seemed to be portrayed as a bastard and there was some animosity. Or was it just because he was the oldest most important guy for the story?
this episode was perfect.
Love the show so much. I’d watch a Late Show with Louis, especially if he got complete creative control, like he has with his FX show.
INTERVIEWS!
Truly one of the best episodes of anything ever. I only hope that Louis is recognized on Sunday, but I’m not willing to wager on it.
When it started my girlfriend was shocked that David Lynch was in it and proceeded to make exactly the same jokes when she was surprised last week that David Lynch was in it. It was almost Lynchian in how surreal it was.
It’s the crying cleaning lady show!
my wife won’t even watch this show with me anymore because it makes her too anxious.
So glad David Lynch was back this week. That hair! That delivery! It was perfection.
And surprise Paul Rudd! What more could you ask for?!
This ep was definitely an emotional rollercoaster. Very few shows can pull off being laugh-out-loud funny and heartbreakingly sad with this much sincerity in one season, let alone one half-hour episode.
Louie for all the awards!
Also, when Lynch says “…For cryin’ in a cup!”, I lost my shit.
I’m not liking the fact that Louie might have a problem with Dave, I don’t think my soul could take it.
I’m looking forward to five or ten years from now when Louis CK spills his guts as to how true this story is. Hot damn that was good television. The whole trilogy was superb, and to end on a high note like that A) looked impossible to pull off 15 minutes into ep 3, and B) reminded me of the end of the Christmas special of the UK Office, and if you’ve seen it you know what I’m talking about.
Hi. I’m late to the party. Josh, you nailed it. The one word I used when describing it to my wife was “emotional”. I actually wrote Louis C.K. a “thank you” email.
