To The Surprise Of No One, Nikki Finke Wrote The Worst Thing About The Emmys

We tend not to talk about Deadline’s editor-in-chief Nikki Finke much, instead leaving the hate for Vince and Burnsy over at Film Drunk. It’s easy to avoid her when you’re writing about television, less so if you’re covering film, which is a good thing because she is the WORST. She’s a tyrant, the kind of person who threatens fellows writers for retweeting a Twitter account that parodies her and then kidnaps and squeezes their babies until they pop to get their precious ever-youthful baby juice, probably. Last night, Finke hosted a “Live Snark” chat on Deadline in honor of the Emmys, which led to this pleasant diatribe.

When discussing Julie Bowen’s win for Outstanding Supporting Actress In a Comedy Series:

Listen-up, Hollywood: Beautiful actresses are not funny. They don’t know how to do comedy. (As Bowen demonstrated with her acceptance speech that repeated the phrase “nipple covers” 3 dozen times. To zero laughter.) Only women who grew up ugly and stayed ugly, or through plastic surgery became beautiful, can pull off sitcoms or standups. Bowen isn’t a comedienne just like Brooke Shields wasn’t and a zillion more. Because it’s all about emotional pain and humiliation and rising above both by making people laugh with you instead of at you. So stop casting beautiful actresses when you should be giving ugly women a chance. (Tina Fey always points out she looked like a troglodyte when she was younger.) This also applies to handsome men, by the way. (Via)

Exhibit B:

This list could go on forever and forever, beauty is in the eye of the something, is Brooke Shields really the best example you could use?, etc., but this furthers my belief that Finke was bullied by a group of a “hot bitches” as a teenager, and then vowed to spend the rest of her life tracking every attractive person down, sneaking into their homes and whispering “TOLDJA” in their ears until they went insane. It’s the only thing that makes sense.

Well, that, and she’s awful. I believe one Film Drunk commentator described her best with:
