We often make note that it’s easy to love Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan. He’s simply the opposite of what we’ve come to expect from a brilliant showrunner: folksy, down-to-earth, and seemingly ego-less. So when I saw he was going to join Colbert last night I made a mental note to check it out. Not because I think Gilligan is an amazing interview (he’s not) but because even late night hosts seem to geek out whenever he’s on.
Colbert wasn’t much different, even breaking character a few times between painting Walter White as Mitt Romney’s dream self-made citizen and being awesome interview Colbert to mention how much he loves the show. Highlights include…
- Colbert: “Just tell me now how it ends.” Gilligan: “Not going to end well.”
- METH OFF!
- There is blue crystal meth out there…now.
- Colbert floating the hypothesis that Gilligan is himself breaking bad. Seems legit.

Before season five started, my boss and I were discussing how the series might end and he goes, “It should have a happy ending. I just want everything to work out for ol’ Walt in the end.” Then he got mad when I told him everyone is gonna die. Pretty safe to say I won this debate!
How do we know that his phrase “not going to end well” means bad stuff for everyone? What if his idea of it not ending well is the bad guys win and the good guys lose?

Also this is unrelated but is anyone else seeing an ad on Warming Glow for “Vagisil” imploring you to “Take the Vagisil® Healthy Vagina Quiz?” Because that’s what I’m getting.
I get Red Wing Shoes/Irish Setter ads but that makes sense, since I work for them&am at work.
Oh. Ok, so just to set the record straight, I have not, at least in the past six months, did any kind of google searching for “vaginal irritation,” “vaginal itching,” “vaginal discharge,” or anything along those lines.
Anyway. If I wanted to talk about my vagina, I’d head over to Pajiba. (Heyoo!)

As far as the ending…Marie is always seen with Purple (the color of Royalty). The ads for the show reference Walt with All Hail The King. Is it possible that somehow these two are related? Perhaps Marie figures things out and sets up Walt? Or that she was in on it all along and her stealing and whatnot was just enough to keep Hank occupied?

What I love the most about Vince Gilligan is that he sounds like a Walter Houston type prospector. It’s almost as if he should be using the word “tarnations” more frequently.
