Not burying the lede for this one: Community will return to NBC on Thursday, February 7th, at 8 p.m. I guess complaining about Canada getting something before AMERICA paid off after all.
In yet another case of an actor beating the network PR machine, Community star Yvette Nicole Brown tweeted that the long-delayed NBC comedy will finally premiere Thursday, February 7 in its old 8PM time period. More details as they become available. (Via)
The gift of Alison Brie coming back into our lives is the greatest week-early Valentine’s Day gift of them all, despite our girlfriends and wives arguments to the contrary.

UPDATE: here’s what NBC is planning on doing, via the Hollywood Reporter:
With second-year comedy Up All Night going on an extended hiatus from December to April/May to shift from a single-camera comedy to a multicam, Parks and Recreation will move up an hour to 8:30 p.m. starting Jan. 17.
Meanwhile, Smash will return Feb. 5 at 9 p.m., with rookie drama Deception (formerly Infamous) set for Jan. 7, comedy 1600 Penn bowing Jan. 10 and Eva Longoria’s unscripted series Ready for Love bowing March 31 and The Voice‘s fourth cycle kicking off March 25-26.

That’s terrible. There’s probably halloween and christmas episodes in it too. Have fun, Canada.
Canada isn’t getting it first anymore. Immediately after the news broke, CityTV said there is no set return date for Community. Probably because NBC got wind of it and stopped it.
I’m afraid to celebrate and get my hopes up, so I’ll just file this under “I’ll believe it when I see it.”
Better late than never! I’ll take it.
I read that as November 7 and reached an unparalleled level of giddy. Then I kept reading and realized my mistake.
I want to believe this, but I’ve been burned before. Playing around with Community is like playing with my emotions…MY EMOTIONS!!!
The upside is that it should be a fairly interruption free run of all the episodes leading up to sweeps in May, so there’s that.
Who wants to lede the celebration….?
I’ve obviously not been paying attention. Why so fucking late? This is bullshit.
Because NBC hates good shows and wants to punish us all for not showing Whitney more support.
I could protest NBC by refusing to watch any of their other shows but I’ve no interest in anything else they do and I stream Community anyway. Suck on that NBC.
And of course, upon return, the show won’t be the show we came to know and love. And the internet will then cease to be…dying of a broken heart.
Such a late premier effectively kills whatever little hope season 4 had of being extended beyond 13 episodes.
It annoys me to no end that NBC has to shuffle shows around on their schedule. It is very simple to keep P&R at its normal time where it is finding some success and simply toss community into Up all Nite’s spot when it goes on hiatus. But no, they must shuffle everything around. *sigh* Last place for a reason.
That’s it, seriously, I’ve had it with NBC.
Somebody call Nicolas Cage and Justin Bartha.
…we’re going to steal the new season of Community.
Fuck this bullshit noise. I’m super cereal about burning something down after NBC decides that it knows so much better than everyone else (who are screaming “YOU FUCKING IDIOTS YOU HAVE THE MATERIAL JUST USE IT!”) . So from the top of my soapbox I proclaim I shall never watch Community again. I shall never buy the DVDs of Community because it would in fact be giving NBC money. I shall now support the actors/actresses from this show in any other form like me going out and buying 70 copies of Choke (mmmm Britta), then going and buying all of the Childish Gambino CDs from Best Buy. In the words of Eric Cartmen “Fuck you guys I’m going home.” *throws coffee table*
I’m holding out hope Community and it’s fans will eventually be rewarded for the pain and suffering brought on by NBC. Like NBC, FOX never appreciated the treasure that was/is Arrested Development and changed the shows timeslot and night multiple times before FOX wrongfully and tragically cut AD short.
Thankfully, AD story has a happy ending. As an AD and Community fan, I hold out hope a year or a few years from now a network will reunite Dan Harmon with his amazing show and brilliant cast to finish what he started. Ideally, as mentioned on here, the network to revive Community should be HBO so the show can be a little edgier to better appeal to it’s target demographic.
I’m going to need a lot more of that GQ footage to tide me over until February.
**cue Daybreak track**
So February 7th is October 19th.
I don’t put faith in February 7th until it is October 19th on my TV. Then it’s Hallowe’en two weeks later.
I think this may have something to do with Mayans.
*begins to cry*
FOUR FUCKING MONTHS!?
it’s interesting to me that the anger and hand wringing over Harmon’s ousting has almost completely died down the longer this show’s away and everyone is just as passionate as they were a year ago. personally, i’m still skeptical.
For me, the cast is still enthusiastic, which gives me hope. I mean, it is their job but I don’t know… they could Katherine Heigl it and they aren’t.
