PSA: ‘Childrens Hospital’ Not Actual Children’s Hospital, And Vice Versa

Childrens Hospital is an absurdist comedy on Cartoon Network that mocks your basic network medical dramas in the silliest and most over-the-top way imaginable. Children’s Hospital L.A. is a private, non-profit teaching hospital in Los Angeles. You’re probably thinking “Well, I know they have similar names, but they’re definitely different enough that the actual hospital for children shouldn’t have to release a statement to clarify the matter.” Well, you are a stupid idiot.

You see, the TV show has been putting up billboards all over Los Angeles to drum up interest in their new season. Perfectly normal, no news there. BUT, at the same time, the real hospital has been doing a heavy publicity/rebranding push of their own, which has led to some dinguses thinking that the the billboard of a terrifyingly clown-painted doctor was somehow related to actual medical facility for sick kids.

B-b-but wait, there’s more:

In fact, TMZ has learned … the honchos at Children’s Hospital L.A. fired off an internal memo assuring staff that clown doctors wearing bloody scrubs are NOT a part of the hospital’s new image.

In the memo, a rep for the hospital writes, “It has been brought to our attention that there is some confusion surrounding a series of area billboards and bus stop advertisements promoting the adult television show Childrens Hospital.”

“Please be advised that the advertisements are in no way associated with CHLA.” [TMZ]

I like to believe there was one doctor who got all excited when he saw the billboard, ran out and dropped like $400 on top of the line clown makeup, and then was FURIOUS when he got this memo.
