American Horror Story: Asylum (FX) – Season premiere. Listen. This is America, so if you want to watch this show (which has all new characters and a new setting for season two), you are certainly welcome to do that. I, however, will not be watching for two main reasons: 1) It looks scary. 2) Adam Levine is in it, and he is at least partially responsible for that Samsung tablet commercial with the annoying whistling from “Moves Like Jagger” — a song that I had successfully avoided since its release, for the most part — that plays A MILLION TIMES every weekend during football games. You’re on my list now, Levine.
Nashville (ABC) – Is this show good? Wait, I’m the one who is supposed to tell you if shows are good or not. This show is … uh … good? Fine? Bad? Stop me when I’m getting warm.
Modern Family/Suburgatory (ABC) – Season premiere for Suburgatory. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m having a hard time processing the information that Luke from Modern Family is a genius. Like, it’s making it hard to focus on the show. I just keep thinking about him wearing safety goggles and a tiny lab coat and pouring brightly colored liquids from one test tube to another, then nodding very seriously. I am, for the record, not a genius.
South Park/Key & Peele (Comedy Central) – Kenny and Butters go to Hawaii. In. (Also, Key & Peele is funny. See below.)
Barbecue Paradise 2: Another Rack (Travel Channel) – There is a 100% chance I watch this show, and an 80% chance I then eat everything in my kitchen.
LATE NIGHT GUESTS: Most shows are in repeats tonight, but Kimmel has Joel McHale, and Stewart has FiveThirtyEight’s Nate Silver, both of whom are great for completely different reasons.

I honestly don’t get the appeal of Key and Peele. People in the comedy world I respect like them. Can someone explain it to me?
Also, while you are at it, explain to me why Chris Hardwick is so well liked as well.
I DEMAND ANSWERS!!
Thought it was pretty great last season. Loved the D&D sketch. [vimeo.com]
This season hasn’t been very good so far.
If you don’t laugh at “Blip, slap that hobbit’s dick off, yo”, I don’t know what to tell you.
I agree with Jeff. For every good sketch (Obama translator, East-West Bowl, a couple others), there are 20 of that aren’t just funny, they’re painful.
I like Chris Hardwick because:
1. As a teenager watching Singled Out (I didn’t know what sucked yet, I was 15) I had a HUGE crush on him and;
2. I like listening to The Nerdist Podcast. I do it while working to make the time go by faster and it’s not a bad listen.
I think it’s about half and half. The stuff like Obama’s Angry Translator slays me, but some of the other stuff seems like a one-note thing.
Still a better batting average than SNL these days.
Also the Arrow pilot was surprisingly good, despite being very very corny at times.
It was INCREDIBLY corny.
My wife and I were very amused that apparently there was a Nautilus gym on that island where he got shipwrecked, and also apparently a Muscle Milk factory outlet store.
Those places are everywhere.
If your island has coconuts you can do both a good crossfit workout and recovery. No need to be a pussy and hunt fish all day like Tom Hanks.
Yeah, it’s not like he was short on rocks to lift.
Key and Peele are funny because Race! Haha, white people do funny things!
Seriously though they have some hella funny sketches. Good water cooler talk if you hang with the cool kids.
I was praying that would be the exact sketch you had under the jump. Donkey Teeth and TJ AJ RJ Backinslashthefourth the Fifth blew my funny fuse.
I like that you typed that whole last name.
Torque [Construction Noise] Lewith
I have watched that sketch half a dozen times, now, and it never fails to slay me. Somehow Eeeeee Eeeeeeeeeeeee remains hilarious.
It’s the faces.
Nashville premiere was majorly okay. Earned a 2nd episode viewing from me.
I have no interest in watching American Horror Story or Nashville. If Connie Britton isn’t married to a high school football coach, I don’t give a damn.
After watching Carl on The Walking Dead, going in watching Manny on Modern Faily is simply painful.
Ugh. People who say they “have no interest” in watching American Horror Story are the people who won’t openly admit that they’re too scared to watch American Horror Story. Probably the same pussies who muted the opening to Are You Afraid of the Dark.
btw that shit was scary as fuck tonight.
I enjoy Key & Peele a lot more than I expected myself to. Hopefully they keep it up.
If you hate Adam Levine, you should have watched American Horror Story. Those that watched know why.
