Alas, here in the television wasteland that is Canada, we don’t have regular access to ‘Always Sunny,’ so I can’t compare it to ‘The League.’ But yes, Thursday’s episode was weak. But that only whets my appetite for what is to come.

Also, it has been mentioned before that this season may look worse than it really is because its been fairly average so far while Sunny has been firing on all cylinders.
Kind of like having a clean up hitter batting .330 with 35 HR and a #5 hitter batting .280 with 23 HR. That #5 hitter is actually pretty good, he just gets over shadowed by a far superior hitter.

The League has always been firmly in a tier below Sunny, Archer, and other tier-1 comedies. I feel like it’s usually a couple of solid one-liners/scenes and a bunch of shoehorned football references and bad-awkward acting.
Last night when Pete was getting his chin stitched is a great example. “Now, let me just check some injury reports here…”
Agreement. That particular line was totally inorganic. I feel like we’re past the fantasy football schtick, and when no other character in the episode mentions their team, Pete should not either.

As much as I love this show, the promos stink on ice. Between that and the fact that too many people think you need to know football to watch, I feel like it’s killing their ratings.
I try to get people to watch it but they won’t because they don’t care about football.
I started watching the show because of Nick Kroll and Paul Scheer who I just enjoy immensely. I’m a girl and loathe sports but this is still one of my favorite comedies because the cast plays off of each other so well and it was never so much about the fantasy football as it was about the shitty thing they do to each other and get into BECAUSE of the league.
I’m on board with this plan. We can’t afford to lose Rafi

So, there’s a couple “weak” episodes of the League and we have to be reminded not to jump ship? This is why we can’t have nice things anymore.
Between the wrong opinions for this and Sons Of Anarchy I’m starting to realize this place is full of idiots. Last night’s League was just as solid as any of the other ones.

I liked the RV episode too, a little more than this weeks actually. Although I could have watched an hour of Taco and his sex-sniffing dog.
I guess I’m crazy for thinking it was funny. Sure it was obvious, but it was “Larry David”-like.
I think part of that was JB Smoove. I think he was winging it a lot much like how Curb is done.
The way to make a great League episode is to have Rafi shoot Pete in the head at the end of every episode

I like Pete. he’s not the funniest member of the cast, but he fills kind of the snarky Jim role well. plus, Mark Duplass is awesome in general.
This season has been really up and down. But what frustrates me the most is the lack of the fantasy football. I realize they want to appeal to a broad(er) audience, but the fantasy aspect was what got me into this show in the first place. We know Ruxin has Arian Foster, Jenny has Frank Gore, and Pete had Ogletree for week one. That’s it.
the problem is that the fantasy football scenes are strained and dated by the time they air.
“I”m winning the league because Michael Vick scored 4 TDs for me!” Yah, nope.
I love any and all Rafi/Taco interactions, because all of a sudden Taco becomes this weird straight man.
I think Rafi conversations are perfect to have with the whole group. I love Ruxin’s reactions to him and the fact that he never gets Pete and Kevin’s names right.
“How’s Brian?”
“You mean Kevin?”
“Still married to that Asian chick??”
“We’re going to need new names. From now on, Brian, we’ll call you ‘Kevin.’”
this was a nice comeback episode after two pretty mediocre ones.

Last night was definitely the weakest of the season so far but the season has had a great run so it’s tolerable
RV episode was the worst thus far, by far.
Yeah, the RV episode was surprisingly weak. Not even Ken Marino added much.

Things like that are enough to keep me coming back for the foreseeable future.
I disagree about the characters being terrible – it’s true for Curb and Sunny but not really for the League. Rafi’s obviously a psycho and Ruxin’s a dick, but Pete, Kevin, Jenny and Andre are all decent people, if weird in their own ways, none of them have a complete lack of morals the way Larry David and the Sunny crew do.
But, I do agree that the show doesn’t rely on the audience being invested in what happens to the characters the way they do on the shows you mention. In fact, as has been mentioned the League episodes actually follow the Curb model by ending the show with a last-minute tie-in of different story lines from the episode.
Pete is pretty much at the same level of dickishness as Ruxin, if you ask me. And Andre is just a little too much of a moron and punching bag to be likable, although I generally love Paul Scheer.
I agree, I dont even think ruxin is that BAD. This is supposed to be (and most of the time is) a show about regular flawed people and the awfulness this fantasy football league brings out in them, its strayed from that premise (and remained hilarious) but the characters are still the same ones
Shiva got naked a lot on this season’s True Blood. A LOT.

The show is pretty consistent for me. A few chuckles, a few decent laughs, and then one mind-blowingly awful situation that you can’t help but laugh at for five solid minutes.
Whose time is so precious that they would nix 22 minutes of quality television out of their life over a few less than hysterical episodes?

Don’t know about last night but last episode two weeks ago was real soft.
You know who should come back? Bree Larson. She should come back in every show, even the ones she never was on. And then she should come back to my place.
Brie Larson is lovely, indeed.
She’s never looked better than when she was in Scott Pilgrim. Kinda the opposite for Mary Elisabeth Winstead who has never looked worse.
She was good, but Taco’s roommate George was even better.
