Those of you who watched ABC’s election coverage last night probably noticed a couple things. First of all, most of their correspondents were wearing those old school headsets like Bobby Brown used to wear instead of using an earbud and handheld microphone, which is a move I fully support. Also, Diane Sawyer seemed druuuuuuuuuuuuuunk. Not like “Maybe she had a glass of wine with dinner” drunk, either. I’m talking full-on slurring her words, rambling, giggling, “fun single aunt who is cutting loose at Thanksgiving and might start asking her nieces and nephews inappropriate questions about their sex life at any minute” drunk.
I missed most of it when it was happening live, but luckily someone has put together a compilation of the highlights, because it is too delightful not to share. I don’t know if she was actually drunk, or got some medicines mixed up, or just gets silly at the end of a long, stressful day, but whatever the cause, she seemed to be having an absolute ball last night.
NOTE: I really hope this doesn’t turn out to be one of those things where everyone points and laughs at someone for being drunk and it turns out it was actually a stroke, both because (a) strokes are terrible, scary things and I wouldn’t wish one on anyone, and (b) I really want to live in a world where news anchors start covering important world events after 2-10 glasses of wine, and this could be the first step toward making that a reality. Fingers crossed.

She kind of sounds like she has a cold, so I’m guessing she wasn’t drinking wine and was on purple drank.
Hey man, I’m gonna try to get with your Aunt Diane. Cool?
Did anyone see when one someone on ABC, I forget who, said this may be the last great election between two white men and Diane Sawyer could not stop laughing at him?
Diane Sawyer #cangetit
Oh most definitely.
To be fair, who wasn’t drunk last night?
That was pretty enjoyable. C’mon, ABC, just pull the trigger and get Lucille Bluth on as lead anchor already.
Eh, I don’t think she sounded or acted particularly drunk.
Everyone looks drunk next to Stephanopoulous
You’d get drunk too if you knew you were going to have to spend the evening watching ABC News.
My first boner for the lady. Come on Diane, first round’s on me!
