Below is the trailer for Da Vinci’s Demons, a new action-adventure/sex romp about the Young Leonardo Da Vinci, because naturally when you think about the Renaissance Man, you think of nicely gelled hair, perfect stubble, sex, death, and ham-fisted symbolism! This man wasn’t discovering knowledge; he was LIBERATING it. He was a tortured, conflicted genius, who also liked to get laid during his downtime.
So, basically: It looks like a Starz show in the vein of Spartacus: Sand and Blood, but it does come from David Goyer, the screenwriter behind The Dark Knight Trilogy, Man of Steel, the Blade movies, and … er, Flash Forward, so his television track record is not exactly pristine. The teaser looks poop-flinging preposterous, but it could be good for a few campy laughs.
The series will air in the Spring of 2013.

Not that I’m expecting Starz to act as a bastion of historical accuracy, but there is some pretty reasonable speculation that da Vinci was either celibate or gay. So not sure how Starz is going to work that in…
I guess he caught a mild case of the “not-gays”….but yeah…I guess when you’re the channel that bases a series on the historical accuracies of ’300′, you can’t expect much.
I’m so fucking tired of these heteronormative shows where they always show any queer inclination as token/a phase/a minor character that quickly meets their demise/a deviant. Is it SO hard to grow the balls to allow your main character to be something other than straight and cis-gendered? Barring sitcoms and other lighthearted stuff. Anything with action, or a darker/serious/gritty tone… I feel like I might have to wait till 2022 before I can see some change in the overall movie and television landscape.
