Typically, I keep my Doctor Who business off of Warming Glow and on the more receptive, Pajiba, because you guys say MENE THINGZ if I get too nerdy on you. But we got hacked over on the Jiba last night, I’ve been consumed all morning with trying to get it fixed. In the meantime: This poor Doctor Who trailer is not getting the love it deserves.
So, let’s give it up folks for The Snowmen featuring Richard E. Grant and the (re)-introduction of the 11th Doctor’s new companion, Jenna-Louise Coleman. Last time we saw Coleman’s Claire Oswin, she was trapped on another planet by the Daleks, where she perished. Now, she’s coming back in an episode set a couple of hundred years ago in England. How does that work? Beats me. That’s kind of the glory of showrunner Steven Moffat. I’m sure he’ll make it all make sense for us, and hopefully in a slightly less convoluted (but still enjoyable!) way than the Amy Pond/River Song business in Series 6.
Check out the trailer. That new companion will probably dominate A LOT of geek sites in the year to come. Her character (at least the version that perished) is wicked awesome: A smart, whip-fast tech genius who can also bake one hell of a souffle. She’s not bad on the eyes, either.

Speaking of, I read somewhere that the rest of season 7 will air in April.
This infuriates me. Why such a long hiatus? It’s like the british’s revenge for the revolutionary war or something. IT WAS 236 YEARS AGO, GUYS. LET IT GO.
Agreed. I can wait 1 or 2 months like with Walking Dead but this is at least a 6 month period where all we get is a Christmas special. I understand everyone needs a break and such but this is getting ridiculous.
I might be wrong, but I think it’s so that season 8 will air during the 50th anniversary later in the year, and they split series 7 for that long so that the wait wouldn’t be an entire year between blocks of Who.
Since I can’t get the video to play at work, I’m just going to imagine – based on the image – that she’s cage-dancing.
Stevan Moffat is amazing. I’m going to rewatch Sherlock on my Christmas vacation to prepare myself for this episode.
I’m s big Doctor Who fan but the Christmas specials are usually horsehit. The new companion is gorgeous but she’s going to be this Victorian incarnation, not the livewire sexy thing we saw in the Dalek episode. Victorian means, well, less inclined to run about in a short skirt. I’m hoping they’re doing something a little different with the companion and have the actress play multiple incarnations of the girl who keeps meeting the Doctor at various points across time and space.
I was just going to say this. They have made it clear that the two people are not related despite it being the same actress. Although i think this is a red herring and somehow they become one and the same.
I read an interview with the actress where she said it wasn’t the original intention to have her as Oswin in the premiere. It was a last minute decision, like Moffat had some brilliant idea for it or something.
horse shit. stupid phone.
Oh look Moffat wrote an episode where someone said “Doctor Who” and the companion kisses the Doctor and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Bring back Jon Pertwee! Oh, wait…dang.
Jenna Louise Coleman > Allison Brie. I demand GIFs o’ plenty!
Can’t wait for it. My buddy just got the Dr. Who box set with all of the past three doctors eps so I have plenty to watch until then.
Also Ian McKellan voices the snowmen.
