Seeing as how we like to think of ourselves as the unofficial home of all things Archer and Olyphant, here's some news I don't think enough people are aware of: tomorrow night's Archer is the Tim Olyphant episode. That's right. Get excited. You know it's a highly anticipated guest spot when both the creator and the executive producer can't hide their Olyphanaticism.
Our good friends at Floyd County and FX were nice enough to provide us with preview images of Olyphant's character, a fellow spy who is also very, um, Archer-y, as you may have gathered. This is going to be a good episode. And in the spirit of that let's review real life Raylan Givens' underrated history of TV guest spots. In chronological order...

Timothy Olyphant showed up in the fourth episode ever, "Valley of the Twenty-Something Guys," and -- as you've probably inferred -- portrayed a twenty-something guy who SOMEHOW managed to seal the deal with Carrie Bradshaw, giving him "firsts" over approximately two thousand other actors.

In the Season 1 episode, Dad's Car, Olyphant guest starred as Billy Reed, a car-loving redneck who Earl lost his dad's Mustang to as a kid. Highlights include the above hair and makeup, early stage male pattern in a flashback scene, and El Camino drag-racing.

More like Samantha WhoRemembersThisShow, amirite? Tim O. did a guest stint in the 2008 Christina Applegate sitcom that's still on your mom's DVR. Although Wikipedia claims his Winston Funk role was re-cast with Billy Zane, but I distinctly remember seeing a preview and thinking Hitman was a bad idea. Also, I would have totally made a "You should listen to your friend, Billy Zane. He's a cool dude" joke had it not been Olyphant. I don't know what to believe any more.

We all remember disappearing salesman Danny Cordray who didn't call Pam back because he thought she was a dork. He showed up in Season 7 so of course he was completely underutilized and disappeared with no explanation. Olyphant apparently had a deleted Dundies scene later in the season that may have provided a little closure to the character. Unfortunately the Erin/Gabe/Andy love triangle was so compelling that no time could be spared.
Never forget:

Every caption-less Danny Cordray GIF you could possibly want here.

Olyphant as a white Japanese chef and the return of Rafi highlighted a top three episode from this past season of The League.
I'll let the Foxy Grandpa comment thread from yesterday's Olyphant on Conan post take it from here.

Introducing Lucas Troy. I won't spoil anything, but he has something for that.

Archer with a gun and a video camera = fun.
This may sound super basic and stupid, but you might want to indicate what show you’re talking about in each paragraph? Just to avoid confusion out of the box.
the name of the show is in big bold letters on each slide.
Without ever seeing an episode of Archer, I will totally watch this and enjoy the sh*t out of it.
You’ve never seen Archer? Have you never tasted chocolate or seen a sunset too?
@Otto Man: I knew I would catch hell from someone about this. I have been meaning to catch up on the show on Netflix which I will do in the near future. Sometimes having two kids was more than I bargained for.
I’ve got two kids, that’s no excuse. Tune in, it’ll help you maintain your sanity.
eating chocolate and seeing a sunset are not mutually exclusive, but two experiences that go great together
@ Otto Man: I will definitely get around to watching Archer. Plan on taking some time off during my kids spring break.
@ Sep: That sounds like some sort of tag line they toss out at fancy vacation resorts. Sunsets and chocolate do sound nice though.
Never seen Archer? How did you get in here?
But I gave you really expensive French chocolate for free… I mean, all I want is 15 minutes to show you the benefits of owning a time-share…
@ Johnny Chimpo: I know, I know, I am the worst. I started to watch a few episodes during S1 and the wife was not impressed. I have it saved on Netflix instant to watch them all by myself.
@ Sep: Now that’s what I call a presentation! BTW- I think I told you this before, but for the record Big Trouble in Little China was my favorite movie as a kid. Can’t wait for my son to be a few years older so I can let him watch it.
Ah. Never mind: it shows up correctly when you view it as a slide show. On the home page it doesn’t show which show is which.
More like Timothy Allover the place.
I’d like to have him allover MY place…
that My Name Is Earl getup is incredible
It’s like Live Action Carl.
Billy Reed: “Do you know how many women I’ve had sex with? FOUR!”
Great. Now I hate Wednesday even more. MAKE IT ARCHER DAY!
Sometimes I get a kick in the balls remembering just how good My Name Is Earl was…
A secret agent stiffy?
you are a WINNER, sir
Wow, that SATC episode was the only one I ever watched of that horrible PoS series and if you didn’t point it out for me, I never would have realized that I saw Timothy Olyphant on TV long before I *thought* I saw Timothy Olyphant on TV.
wow. if that’s a mini-14 he’s ready to shoot…. he’s gonna miss. I hope he’s aiming at Archer!
Seriously? 23 comments and no Sploosh?
Ok I’ll take this one. Number 8, Sploosh!
