It’s not quite Philly Justice, but Ken Tremendous will be behind a police comedy, this one starring Andy Samberg.
Fox has handed its first pilot order this season to a cop comedy starring Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg. Written by the Parks and Recreation duo of co-creator/exec producer/showrunner Mike Schur and exec producer Dan Goor, the project is about a diverse group of detectives in a precinct at the very edge of New York City, with Samberg playing the lead detective. Despite the epic failure of That’s My Boy and that stupid Windows Phone 8 commercial with his stupid feet, Samberg is still a hot commodity, and the as-yet-untitled project will be his highest non-SNL exposure TV gig yet, Shark Week host notwithstanding. As for Schur, well, we’d watch/listen/read/absorb anything with his name on it, and his reaction to Fox inevitably billing the show with the motto “Chuck(le at) the Police” is going to be amazing.

good move. i’ve been samberg-less for far too long.
I imagine when Schur pitched the idea to NBC, he just showed them a re-run of “Barney Miller.”
*re-reads article and sees that show is gonna be on Fox, not NBC. shrugs shoulders. stares at Poehler/Fey pictures for another hour*
YAY, ANDY.
Fox is totally stealing all of NBC’s talent. Serves them right.
Didn’t they also order a Dan Harmon show too?

Sure did. I’m not sure what the premise is yet, but anything from Harmon has full and immediate attention.
On the subject of Schur and Samberg’s cop-com on FOX, I’m definitely interested. I think Samberg is at his best when playing over the top characters (Hot Rod and his park ranger with voice immodulation in Parks and Rec come to mind) and hope that this is the route they decide to take with this show. It would be nice to know who will be rounding out the cast in order to get a feel for what we might expect.
Andy Samberg and Michael Schur? This has potential.
Well at least we now have something to look forward to when NBC kills P&R.
No. Oh no. Oh please god no
