A quick, sad update to Dustin’s post about Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 from this morning: star James Van Der Beek just confirmed our worst fears on Twitter, writing that the show’s essentially been canceled, and it’s unknown when we’ll see the final eight episodes. If ever there was a time for the Crying Dawson GIF…
The news blows, but JVDB says we shouldn’t blame ABC.
Ugh. But it’s so much easier to irrationally blame the network. So I’ll let Krysten Ritter do it.

Man, I watched this show from the early release episode on Hulu and I’m fully aroused…enraged by this. Hopefully we’ll at least see the remainder dumped on Hulu like other failure shows I enjoyed like Bent, Best Friends Forever and Perfect Couples. Van Der Beek 4-eva!

Bad news. That show was very good, and JVDB was incredible in it. Never saw a single episode of Dawson’s (just outside that demographic), but JVDB was a frickin’ stud in this show. Too bad.
Damn. Well, maybe it’s got a chance at a secondary pickup.
No!!!! I loved the first season and finally just got caught up on season 2 via Hulu. Van Der Beek was amazing on this. I need to go hang out with the fictionalized JVDB from this and NPH from Harold and Kumar and forget this ever happened.
Better Off Ted still stings too much to care overly much about this.

That show sucked. Ritter is hot enough to get on a better show.
I hope you’re right about Ritter, but she WAS just in a movie with Alicia Silverstone, and that is never a good sign.

Come on FX or TBS, step up to the plate, you just axed that terrible David Silver show, you need a good show to replace it.
I love how everytime a beloved show gets axed, everyone starts screaming “TBS! HEY, SAVE THIS SHOW, TOO!” They did it one time with Cougar Town and now everyone assumes they will do it all the time. I’m skeptical.
However, if they decided to save Community and Happy Endings when they are inevitably canceled, I would become a TBS fan for life and tattoo its logo on my arm.
Well, and TNT took Southland when it got cancelled, so there is some precedent.

Chloe reminded me so much of Roger from American Dad, a character who had just gone way too far and was better for it.

Good, this show was pretty fucking abysmal.
It hurts much less because ABC has been telegraphing this. Twice a week burn offs, airing episodes horrendously out of order. Half-hour comedies are going to be terrible when Apt 23, Happy Endings, Community, and Parks & Rec get cancelled and 30 Rock ends.

Sad day for me and my cats. I was having a lot of fun with this show.
This makes me sad, though the writing was on the wall (hell, even Dustin saw this coming).
Bright side, when we finally get to watch the last episodes on netflix at least they’ll be in chronological order instead of reverse alphabetical by episode title or however the hell ABC has been arranging them.
Inevitable pain still hurts.
