In 1978, Kiss was one of the biggest bands in the world. Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss could sleep with anyone they wanted, score any kind of drug they desired to snort, release four solo albums on the same day, bribe as many crooked DJs as they felt necessary, and like the Beatles with A Hard Day's Night, star in any movie. Unlike A Hard Day's Night, though, they ended up making Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park, an NBC made-for-TV that's so awful, people couldn't mention it around the band for years. A brief synopsis:
The tale of rock band KISS and their efforts to thwart a diabolical plan by mad scientist Abner Devereaux. Devereaux has found a way to clone humans into robots in his laboratory at an amusement park. It just so happens that he plans to uses the KISS concert as a platform to unleash his plan on the world. KISS must use their special powers to stop him. (Via)
Wonderful, just wonderful. In honor of the Starchild's 60th birthday tomorrow, today's GIFs of the Week is dedicated to Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park. That's so much fun to say. Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park.
Not sure if new or old, doesn't matter. (Via)
