Award season finally ends this Sunday with the 85th Academy Awards, or "Oscars," as they're known in The Business, which, good thing — methinks Vince is on the verge of driving to Los Angeles and taking a Stewie Griffin-sized dump in the Dolby Theatre. The Best Picture nominees are as such: Old People Dying and Stuff, Ergo No, White People Present: Magical Realism, Dejesus Uncrossed, Miserable Lesbian, House of Pies, Fillmore, EAGLES RULES COWBOYS DROOL, and The Osama Bin Laden Power Hour: Electric Boogaloo.
If you're like me, you saw approximately half of those movies and still aren't sure Life of Pi is, y'know, real. So what's a non-Amour watcher to do this Sunday? Why, root for the Best Picture nominee with the highest number of favorite TV show characters in it. After the jump, I've ranked the nine nominated films by their small screen pedigree, featuring actors and actresses that starred in a post-2000 TV show. Findings: Coach Taylor was a busy man.

Well, hello, adorable Lee Pace gif.
Poor Mark Valley… doesn’t even get a “Human Target” shout out.
I noticed that too, despite Jackie Earl Haley getting one. Valley had considerably more screen time on Human Target.
and Keen Eddie
and Boston Legal
Human Target went from “This is pretty cool!” to “Wow this is shitty!” in the span of about 3 episodes.
I just realized that David Constabile (Gale Bodacker) was in The Wire.
Its Boetticher. But yes, he was. Badass. Lucky to have worked with two of the greatest shows on earth – Brba and TW.
Boris McGiver – also in The Wire as Lt. Marimow.
Woah! And he kicks ass in Person of Interest too!
Leonardo Dicaprio: Growing Pains
You also missed the “post-2000″ disclaimer.
Plus James Remar from Dexter and SATC
Re: post-2000 Roseanne was pre-2000 and John Goodman ranks.
Damages, Treme, Community, Center of the Universe. Goodman entry fixed.
I’m not a woman. I don’t read disclaimers. [tries to return big dick pills]
No love for Richard Kind (Max Klein in Argo)? Or did the “post-2000″ mean the show had to begin airing in 2000?
He hosted Family Feud too.
HAROLD PERRINEAU IS AUGUSTUS HILL IN “OZ” NOW AND FOREVER, AMEN.
Would that be a dump the size of Stewie Griffin, or a dump the size of one of Stewie Griffin’s dumps?
Walter White single-handedly wins it for the Argo crew!
Argo’s a really strong but top-heavy entry.
But are you telling me that he beats out Tony Soprano, Stannis Baratheon, Andy Dwyer (who is playing Bert Macklin!), Pete Eckhart, Michael from Lost, and Mr. Betty Draper II? (The two Coach Taylors cancel out) I don’t think so, bud.
I enjoyed this ranking entirely too much.
This is fun. It’s like following the secret life of showbiz. Up front, you see this, but if you look deeper…
Wait, Christopher Stanley played Tom Ahern in Argo *and* Zero Dark Thirty? That’s range to play the same guy in two movies in the same year, when you consider the movies are set 30 years apart.
Mr. Stanley played Admiral Bill McCraven in ZD30.
No Jamie Foxx show?
Bradley Cooper was also in Kitchen Confidential- which was pretty decent and had so much potential. If that show had aired 4-5 years later it would have killed. They just missed the cooking show craze.
If you skim through these pictures fast enough, you’ll think Johnny Drama was in Silver Linings Playbook and Kenny Powers was in Lincoln.
Let’s also not forget Amber Tamblyn was also on the short-lived “The Unusuals” with Jeremy Renner
I really, really liked that show.
I always just think of her from Joan of Arcadia.
I know we already talked about one of his roles in Parks and Rec, but Zero Dark Thirty wins just by virtue of the human dynamo known as Burt Macklin, FBI!
And the Human Target/Keen Eddie as C-130 pilot cameo is a nice bonus.
Amanda Seyfriend in Veronica Mars.
FFS. Seyfried.
Jessica Chastain was also on Veronica Mars, but only for an episode.
Believe it or not, but I havent seen any of these movies. So this post is irrelevant to me. And I am irrelevant to it.
what an unbelievable stretch of a premise this entire post was
You haven’t been reading this site very long, have you?
quite the contrary. this was just the first time i ever found it egregious enough to comment on the matter.
Actually, one of the first things I noticed watching ZDT was “wow–look at how many TV stars there are”. I liked the post and you are objectively *wrong* for not enjoying it.
wasnt julia stiles character on Dexter named “lumen” or some wierd shit like that.
i dont like her face
oh ok disregard this comment. i was reading this like man this guy is wayy off with all of the names of these characters. i wonder does he even watch tv. silly me
“Amber Tamblyn as Daughter of a Son of a Gunfighter” I really do not remember this character in Django, when exactly does she show up?
She’s winner of smallest cameo ever, she’s seen looking out a window when Django and Shultz ride into town.
No love for Sally Field as the Flying Nun?
For all the Aussies out there (and French people) (I can’t explain why french tv always had some australian tv shows) (anyway) you could have called Joel Edgerton in The Secret Lives of Us (he was already good back then) and Callan Mulvey in Heartbreak High (pre-2000) and Underbelly…
Also you missed Frederic Lehne (Lost and a bunch of others) who was on ZDT…
Callan Mulvey was also in Bikie Wars, Rush and Home and Away and guest spots in McCloud’s Daughters and Sea Patrol.
I miss Human Target
Paul Herman as Randy from Entourage? blech. Try Beansie from the Sopranos!
i saw Harold Perrineau as Jack and my mind just…frazzled
Verified
Karina Logue (Steph on “Terriers,” among other TV roles) was in Argo, too. Just sayin’.
