Every time I see Twilight fans — or Beliebers for that matter — losing their freaking minds in public on the internet I often think, “Man, thank God the internet wasn’t around for me to make a fool of myself on when I was a kid.” The truth is, all of us have things we were rabid about when we were young that we’re kind of embarrassed to admit now, and if the internet was around back then there’d be documented, inescapable proof of our past exercises in poor taste. The Incredible Hulk. He-Man. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. New Kids on the Block. Etc.
In other words, we all have a Twilight, and that’s what this latest UPROXX Video offering explores. What’s yours?!

Wait, what? “The Rock” is awesome. How is that like “Twilight”?
No, I’ve never heard the term “introspection,” why do you ask?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is my Twilight, too. One day I’m gonna be an old ass man who still loves Ninja Turtles. I regret nothing.
Yeah my friends and I re-watched that in high school and it was terrible.
I will go to my grave defending the first TMNT movie.
@SHough610 Me too. I want to be buried right next to you!
It’s not even just the movies that I love. I love the comics, the cartoons, everything. If I have children one day and they don’t embrace Ninja Turtles the way I did, I’ll be getting a paternity test.
@Rockflagneagle: The toys and the comics I can still defend along with the movie. The cartoon does not hold up as well but it’s great for kids.
I didn’t think they would go to “Flight of the Navigator”; but then they did.
What about Transformers the Movie… the full length feature film that came out in the movie theater. That was my Twilight.
Not a movie but a band. That band? Jesus Jones.
Seriously.
What?
Go fuck yourself.
This comment feels real.
I understand
Live action Dolph Lundgren He-Man might be one of the greatest movies of all time…. and Courtney Cox is in it. I always wanted to try to Jam out on a Time Key.
Frank Langella as Skeletor is the best thing ever.
Also, fuck you Uproxx. I will never regret He-Man. Never.
The only thing I can really think of that I went kind of crazy about was X-men. I must have had 50+ action figures
Garbage Pail Kids the movie? that shit was fucking creeeepy
Tremors is awesome
I wrote a 10-page AP English essay on the complete works of Coheed and Cambria.
I got an A-minus.
I am not ashamed.
TMNT? That first live-action movie was great.
Oh, Tremors.
I also loved the Monster Squad.
Wolfman has nards
Animated Amazing-Spiderman and X-Men. Oh and Animaniacs. Pinky and the Brain. Batman. Pretty much any cartoon on the WB.
This is supposed to be about things you are ashamed of now … there’s no way you are ashamed of any of these things because they are still awesome.
Then who the hell is ashamed of Tremors? Or The Rock? Both of those movies ruled and continue to rule.
Besides, shouldn’t I be ashamed as a 29 year old man who continues to enjoy his WB afternoon cartoons?
I’m an adult and I still enjoy those old WB cartoons, too, man. They hold up.
There’s nothing to ashamed about that involves Pinky and the Brain, the Warner brothers and sister, or Batman. The old Xmen and Spider-man cartoons, on the other hand, are perfectly viable. Admittedly, I just generally don’t like Spiderman, but no one can claim that the 90s Spiderman:The Animated Series is anything other than an amusing guilty pleasure. For fuck’s sake, they wrote in a vampire even though they weren’t allowed to even refer to blood. So it sucked plasma. Seriously.
Damn you, lack of an edit button!
*to be ashamed
*about that which involves
Sadly though, most of the Twihards I see are in their 20′s. Yeah, TMNT was awesome when I was 9, and I may or may not have owned a pair of MC Hammer pants, and wore a backwards baseball jersey because i was trying to ‘Warm It Up’.
But at 12 years old, when I learned what my ‘special purpose’ was used for, I didn’t have some lame ass obsessio….. fuck. I just realized playboys and masturbation was my Twilight.
*is*
Sailor Moon!
Yup, that’s one of mine, too.
Six Million Dollar Man, bitches!
Dragon Ball Z.
Same. Even as a little kid, I was apparently pretentious in my own way, because I loved Vegeta and Piccolo, seriously thought DBZ was a compelling series, and didn’t particularly care about the action scenes.
Dungeons and Dragons
Top Gun would be mine, if it wasn’t still just completely awesome.
The one that always kills me is X-Men The Animated Series. I recently tried to re-watch that…holy crap is it terrible. And before anyone says, “HEY IT’S FOR KIDS!” so was the original Batman The Animated Series from Warner Bros. and that is still amazing.
Yeah, Batman holds up. X-Men and Spider-Man do not. This is a compilation of terribly cheesy shit from X-Men that’s hilarious: [youtu.be]
For me, it also comes down to music. Specifically, the complete works of KoRn/Limp Bizkit. I had the NY hat and everything…
My “Twilight” was The X-Files. I was in the fan club, I had the X-Files Fossil watch, the posters hanging all over the place, hats, t-shirts, my username for chat rooms and message boards was “MrsMulder”, I still own the X-Files Barbie dolls, my favorite song was “David Duchovny” by Bree Sharp, and I bought an Xterra because it had the letter “X” in the name.
I mean, the show is still awesome but I went a little overboard.
Music: KoRn and Limp Bizkit
TV: Dawson’s Creek
I’m 31 years old and I still lose my freaking mind over some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the internet. You don’t have to tell me how cool I am, I already know.
Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers. Joined the fanclub and everything.
Okay, Tremors and Flight of the Navigator were great movies, and anyone who disagrees is a communist.
I think mine would probably be….Anaconda. Or the Mummy.
Seeing these unlocked a couple of memories: Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, Deion Sanders: rap star, Kid Rock, Dawson’s Creek (it bears repeating), the Phantom Menace (I was 13 when it came out), Family Guy (ditto), and I’m sure there are much, much more.
Neon Genesis Evangelion.
*pantomimed gunshot to the head*
*Shudders* I hate that series so bloody much. . I can totally understand it blowing someone’s mind when they’re a kid, though.
Ninja Turtles, Captain Power, the Transformers afternoon cartoon, I loved fucking U2 until I was in my 20s.
I rewatched the animated Transformers movie a few months ago, holds up.
Power Rangers. I tried watching ‘Power Ranger Samurai’ the other day, it is awful.
WHAT Y’ALL BITCHES KNOW ABOUT SOME AIR BUD?!?!?!
Growing up my selections were limited to the Beta section at the rental store longer than most the developing world with VHS. Even with slim pickings I always found my self with one box in my hand. Cloak and Dagger, there I said it.
Mine was the X-files, so no shame. But I used to run up the street after getting off the school bus so as not to miss any of the reruns that I’d seen 10 million times.
Footloose…everyone in tight jeans pulled up to their ears and dancing even though it was banned!
/feels old
Footloose is my Twilight.
I’m actually really surprised I have yet to see Jurassic Park listed on here.
By the way, mine was Jurassic Park. Video game, comic books, toys, board game. I was like a teen girl drooling over a sparkly vampire for them Velociraptors.
Also, Krull.
/Always and forever, Krull. You my boo.
If Vader had the Glaive there wouldn’t be an Empire Strikes Back!
After slicing thru crusty ass Obi Wan it would have hooked a right taking off Luke’s head before he could cry “Noooo!” and then blast thru the backs of Han, Leia, and Chewy as they ran up into the Millenium Falcon for cover – all in one toss!!!
Saved By The Bell is my Twilight.
(And yes. That includes the college years.)
I know there is a video, and I know I clicked on it to watch it, but I really couldn’t see/hear anything other than that poor man’s Olivia Wilde! Totally scortched my shorts!!
I’m putting Burnsy on the backBurner and focusing my stalking efforts on this alternative universe Olivia… Fringe style yo!
Seriously tho, they’re both named Olivia (Wilde/Dudley), both hot, both take pictures of dogs on their Twitter, both shop for groceries at Ralph’s on Western, and both have green comforters in their bedroom (though Dudley’s felt more like imitation silk).
