Weekend Preview: If You Start Your Drinking Game Sunday Afternoon, The Oscars Are More Fun

The 85th Annual Academy Awards (ABC, Sunday 8:30 p.m.) –If Amour wins, we riot! If you’re looking for a drinking game for Oscar night, check out Vince’s, and check back on the UPROXX network on Sunday night for our live discussion. Just remember: Never look directly into Tommy Lee Jones’ eyes.

The Jimmy Kimmel Show (ABC, Sunday 11ish p.m.) — Don’t forget 1) that Seth MacFarlane will do a musical number at the end of the Oscars, and 2) Jimmy Kimmel will host a show afterwards, which will see a sequel to Movie: The Movie featuring all the famous people he can cram into it. (Also note, a new Game of Thrones full-length trailer debuts TONIGHT on Jimmy Kimmel, though I’m sure Josh will have it up here in the morning).

CSI: NY (CBS, Friday 9 p.m.) — 9th season finale. This is the one with Gary Sinise, right? Never seen it.

Misfits (Logo, Saturday 1 a.m.) — 3rd season finale. The TV Guide entry just says, “You’re staying up until 1 a.m. for this?” Weird.

Portlandia (IFC, Friday 10 p.m.) — The penultimate episode of the third season sees the rats relocate from a recently gentrified neighborhood. HOW PORTLANDIA OF THEM.

The Walking Dead (AMC, Sunday 9 p.m.) — I get so frustrated with the programming people for airing first-runs against the Oscars. It’s the second-highest rated show of the year. Why would you air first runs? Don’t make my DVR work, damnit. Basically, it just means a lot of us have to stay up late to watch both. Hopefully, we see the return of Tyrese in this week’s episode.

Shameless (Showtime, Sunday 9 p.m.) — In its third season, I think Shameless is as good as it’s ever been: The show has completely detached itself from the British original, and all the characters have come into their own. Now, if we can just get someone besides Mr. Skin to recognize how awesome it is.

Enlightened (HBO, Sunday 9:30 p.m.) — I absolutely detested the first half of the first season of this show, and eventually quit on it. But it’s apparently gotten a second life: Lots of people on my Twitter feed are raving about the damn show, and now I feel left out. Anyone still watching it? Have anything nice to say about it? Has Laura Dern’s character stopped being the most loathsome woman on television?
