The 85th Annual Academy Awards (ABC, Sunday 8:30 p.m.) –If Amour wins, we riot! If you’re looking for a drinking game for Oscar night, check out Vince’s, and check back on the UPROXX network on Sunday night for our live discussion. Just remember: Never look directly into Tommy Lee Jones’ eyes.
The Jimmy Kimmel Show (ABC, Sunday 11ish p.m.) — Don’t forget 1) that Seth MacFarlane will do a musical number at the end of the Oscars, and 2) Jimmy Kimmel will host a show afterwards, which will see a sequel to Movie: The Movie featuring all the famous people he can cram into it. (Also note, a new Game of Thrones full-length trailer debuts TONIGHT on Jimmy Kimmel, though I’m sure Josh will have it up here in the morning).
CSI: NY (CBS, Friday 9 p.m.) — 9th season finale. This is the one with Gary Sinise, right? Never seen it.
Misfits (Logo, Saturday 1 a.m.) — 3rd season finale. The TV Guide entry just says, “You’re staying up until 1 a.m. for this?” Weird.
Portlandia (IFC, Friday 10 p.m.) — The penultimate episode of the third season sees the rats relocate from a recently gentrified neighborhood. HOW PORTLANDIA OF THEM.
The Walking Dead (AMC, Sunday 9 p.m.) — I get so frustrated with the programming people for airing first-runs against the Oscars. It’s the second-highest rated show of the year. Why would you air first runs? Don’t make my DVR work, damnit. Basically, it just means a lot of us have to stay up late to watch both. Hopefully, we see the return of Tyrese in this week’s episode.
Shameless (Showtime, Sunday 9 p.m.) — In its third season, I think Shameless is as good as it’s ever been: The show has completely detached itself from the British original, and all the characters have come into their own. Now, if we can just get someone besides Mr. Skin to recognize how awesome it is.
Enlightened (HBO, Sunday 9:30 p.m.) — I absolutely detested the first half of the first season of this show, and eventually quit on it. But it’s apparently gotten a second life: Lots of people on my Twitter feed are raving about the damn show, and now I feel left out. Anyone still watching it? Have anything nice to say about it? Has Laura Dern’s character stopped being the most loathsome woman on television?

I remember recording the first episode of Enlightened. I watched 15 minutes and decided I was tired of watching this woman screw up, cry constantly, and complain.
Walking Dead > Oscar Recipients (aka The Sitting Dead).
I enjoy Enlightened, but if you want to catch up just start with the second season debut. Luke Wilson went to rehab. Bam, there ya go.
Does anybody know anything about Ugly Americans? Is it canceled? Returning?
Yeah, I somehow stick with Enlightened while being totally bored and uninteresting with its first season. The second one had some very good moments and more “action”, and I know look forward to it each week. The episode where we see Luke Wilson in rehab was damn fine.
As for Ugly Americans, I guess it’ll come back behind South Park in late March, right?
Argh, I just checked and South Park is NOT coming back in March as it usually does, but in September, LAME! And it will only be 10 episodes? SUPER LAME.
Futurama doesn’t come back before “summer”. That would be weird if Comedy Central had no scripted comedy show between the end of Workaholics and then, so unless they have a new show, or we get season 2 of Krod Mandoon, I guess Ugly Americans in late March/April is plausible nonetheless.
Gah, I’m going to miss Ugly Americans if it’s not going to be around any more, although that last episode would work fine as and felt like an ending, of sorts. I cannot speak for the general logic of Comedy Central’s scheduling, it always manages to be surprisingly stupid in new ways, but that mostly doesn’t affect me any more, since I quit regularly watching South Park and don’t watch Workaholics. Although, I would give Kroll Show a chance.
Deb is still the WORST
Dustin, I think you mentioned wanting to watch Misfits. If so, just note that it’s much better if you ignore everything after season two.
Such lackluster choices are very unbecoming of such a tremendous year for cinema. Where are the nominations for movies like The Grey, Jesus Henry Christ and Killing them Softly? Read about the Top 10 Movies of 2012 with reviews and other honorable mentions at [dregstudiosart.blogspot.com]
Guhhhh. You’re the worst.
You should eat a bowl of spiderwebs Brandt Hardin.
I like Seth MacFarlane probably more than most Uproxx readers do, but he’s certainly no Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. Which is good, because I’d rather not watch another awards show just for the host. And if Animation Domination is taking the week off, then I’ll have time to give Walking Dead another looksee.
As for Enlightened, I’m not a regular viewer, but from the little pieces I’ve seen, Amy is no longer an intolerable crazy person, but is still kind of dumb and selfish, determined to bring down the company from within even if it means getting her sweet, mousey co-worker (whose name I can’t think of right now) fired or worse. All the Twitter love is making me think I should watch a full episode or two, though, and make sure I’m right about all that.
