To say something is “Christopher Guest-y” is a high compliment considering that he’s the guy behind This Is Spinal Tap,The Mighty Wind, Waiting for Guffman and Best in Show, the guy who popularized the mockumentary in film, which would lead to its popularity as a format in television on shows like The Office, Parks and Recreation and Modern Family. It only seems fitting that Guest would now bring his brand of mockumentary to television with Family Tree, starring the awesome Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids, Girls). The series, which premieres on HBO (and the BBC2) in May, is about a recently single and unemployed 30-something man (O’Dowd) who discovers himself by investigating his “wacky” extended family. The usual Christopher Guest regulars — Michael McKean, Fred Willard, Don Lake, Ed Begley Jr., and Jim Piddock — also appear, sometimes with toothbrushes.

What took so long for this happen? Guest should have had a TV series years ago.
The IT Crowd > Girls
/Obligatory.
IT Crowd > Bridesmaids > Girls
How dare you leave out IT Crowd, Rowles. The very thought!
Staring at a blank wall > Girls
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
More Chris O’Dowd goodness, The I.T. Group streams on Netflix.
IT… Group?!
I have no idea why I keep saying it that way. Confuses the hell out of my Netflix searches
just now showed up on Hulu too
Hey!
Guess how much I can bench press.
315 pounds, at the top of my game, maxing out at 500.
Seriously, I will never get tired of Best in Show, especially Fred Willard’s performance. It. Is. Genius.
And Christopher Guest deserves a medal for doing the best fake NC accent I have ever heard.
I have a Norwich Terrier (the dog that won in the movie) and I sing made up songs about how amazing he is to him aaalllll the time…. I do NOT, however, have sex with guys on roller coasters (yet).
Then I take back my invitation to Six Flags Great Adventure
It’s the day of the show, y’all.
I read this in Libby Mae Brown’s voice.
Fred Willard? I’m sold.
Great, so now Christopher Guest wants to suck another hour of my life away?
it’s for posterity…
Cool! Fred Willard’s back from community service. Can he attach a book of instructions to a Peep Show for me?
Just another show I’m going to have to illegally stream until HBO makes a digital distribution model that allows me to give them my money.
Love it. Love everything about it.
I guess this kinda makes up for them passing on Garfunkel and Oats.
If they don’t explain why Chris O’Dowd has an Irish accent when everyone else is British, it’s going to be impossible to enjoy this.
you know what? fuck you ‘o dowd! you could be making a new series of the it crowd or even a film but you’ve gone all hollywood. you ALWAYS go home with the girl you took to the dance, chris. not dump the bitch for some hot piece of american ass. son, i am disapoint
