I dunno, y’all. NBC’s Hannibal still looks a little too sanitized and network-y, and it has the feel of The Following minus THE INCESSANT REFERENCES TO THE RAVEN plus Mads Mikkelsen. But then again, MADS MIKKELSEN! Weirdly, I believe the show was meant to center on Hugh Dancy’s character, but the preview certainly plays up Laurence Fishburne’s character as the primary role. I hope it’s decent. At this point, rooting against NBC is like kicking a blind, three-legged Corgi.

It can’t be difficult for Hannibal to better than The Following, because never has a suspenseful show telegraphed its story so blatantly. But then, it’s NBC so it will probably have a laugh track.
Oh, crap, we agree on something again.
End of Days? End of Days.
Mads Mikkelsen is a genuinely terrifying presence so – if NBC don’t puss out – this could be pretty good.
This looks about 10,000 times better than the Following. Then again, the Following looked amazing in the ads.
Bryan Fuller shows belong on cable.
But I’ll still watch this, because Bryan Fuller.
Something tells me this will be headed to Bravo in fairly short order.
I am still watching The Following, since it is interesting, but yes, it is as telegraphed as hell. Plus, it is very quickly turning into 24. I will certainly give Hannibal a shot, even if it is on NBC.
The only problem I see with this (and it’s the same thing I feel about The Following) is that there’s not a lot of tension re: the main character. They can’t kill Kevin Bacon because he’s the star, they can’t kill Hugh Dancy because his character lives into the rest of the story. So any time they are in peril, whoopdie doo. It was the same problem I ran into with 24.
Just hanging out in the Overlook Hotel bathrooms at 1.30 huh? Perfectly normal.
I am slightly psyched about this, Mikkelsen has an interesting film presence (Casino Royale, Valhalla Rising) and Hugh Dancy was brilliant in ‘Adam’.
