Two things Modern Family-related that cannot be denied: 1) the show has steadily decreased in DVR priority since its most excellent first season, and 2) much of the groundwork for its success was laid by Arrested Development.
So while watching last night’s Modern Family season finale in real time for the first time I can remember in years (THANKS OBAMA) I was rewarded with Phil Dunphy informing his wife she had made a huge mistake, only for Julie Bowen to deliver a pretty spot-on GOB Bluth impersonation right then and there.
It’s impossible to say whether or not this was winky recognition of the aforementioned sitcom groundwork or perfectly timed acknowledgment of the Bluth’s imminent return (I’d like to think a little of column A, a little of column B), but regardless it was just a cool gesture by a stupidly successful network show that I enjoyed and thought I’d share. Not as much as I enjoy looking at the “I’ve Made a Huge Mistake” on AD GIF wall, but cool nonetheless.
