The Trailer For ‘The Killing’ Brings Up An Important Point: What If Bigfoot Is The Killer This Season?

Here is the first trailer for the third season of The Killing. As with most teaser-type trailers, it doesn’t tell us a lot, as it’s basically just a bunch of quick action shots and close-ups of the stars looking very serious and thoughtful. It also has title cards that say things like “A MONSTER ON THE LOOSE” and “17 VICTIMS AND COUNTING,” which brings up two important points:

  1. If there are 17 victims, shouldn’t they consider changing the title to The Killings, plural?
  2. What if they mean “monster” literally?

Just hear me out here. Let’s say, after another season of misdirection and overcast skies, the rain-soaked detectives finally catch a break in the case and rush to a nearby warehouse where they believe their primary suspect may be hiding. They enter carefully, silently, and begin creeping between the rows of wooden crates. What was that?! A noise! It sounds like growling. But not from a dog, at least not any dog they’ve ever heard. No, this is something … different. The music swells. They turn the corner and draw their guns. Tight close-up on their horrified, shocked faces. They can’t believe their eyes.

IT’S BIGFOOT — SASQUATCH HIMSELF — STANDING OVER THE BODY OF THE SUSPECT, COVERED IN BLOOD AND HOLDING A MACHETE. IT WAS HIM ALL ALONG. IT ALL MAKES SO MUCH SENSE NOW. THE DEAD BODIES IN THE WOODS, THE BITE MARKS, THE STRANGE HAIR FOUND AT THE SCENE OF EVERY CRIME. OF COURSE. IT WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEIR FACES THE WHOLE TIME. AND NOW, SO WAS HE. THE MYTH WAS REAL. SHOTS RINGS OUT. THE DETECTIVES FILL THE BEAST WITH BULLETS. HE WAILS AND CRUMPLES TO THE FLOOR. SUPER TIGHT SHOT OF HIS HAND AS HE DROPS THE MACHETE ONTO THE COLD CEMENT FLOOR. FADE TO BLACK. CREDITS.

Something to think about.
