Long live King Rafi!
Was that Bridget the Midget? She was fantastic.
Wait seriously? I cannot believe people actually enjoyed this episode? Was I not in on some joke or something? Because otherwise this was a textbook Jump The Shark Moment. This was not a good episode of a TV show that I have been calling “trying too hard” for the past two seasons. I can’t believe it’s getting a pass like this. I usually enjoy the uproxx episode breakdowns for things I may have missed. But this is making me think that uproxx is getting money from the networks and isn’t in the business of making actual critcism.
I was NOT prepared for that much Krumholtz.
That scene with Will Sasso as the policeman was one of the funniest scenes I’ve seen this year………this was an awesome episode
I crapped on this episode above, so thank you for reminding me how funny that dialogue was!
4 episodes in…3 out of 4 have been barely watchable. This is sad.
Literally screamed NOO when Rafi was shot dead. But an AMAZING episode. background music every single line was just so good
I refuse to believe that Rafi is dead. Even if it is a year later. And that nobody finds out for another year after that.
Rafi is like a cockroach, he’ll never die!
How dirty is Dirty Randy if Rafi calls him Dirty Randy??
The stuff Stefon does on the weekend is what Dirty Randy does on a Tuesday
The Batman discussion was awesome
I must not get the joke. Batman IS a documentary.
Reenactment of real events.
I loved how they thought a documentary was any non porno movie.
There’s nonporno movies????
“theres been 3 in the last decade!”
Without a doubt the most laughs per minute of any show I’ve seen in a while. Sure it was absurd and got only more absurd as the episode went on, but it did so in fantastic style. David Krumholtz got fat? Lose the shirt throw on that visor!
Also that ending was upsetting yet completely satisfying. Hope it’s not canon though.
This will be the best episode of the season, possibly the series.
If you don’t like it, you’re wrong. If you think Seth Rogen/Dirty Randy sucks, you’re also wrong.
Don’t get mad at me or defensive about it, just soak in the wrongness and try again next week.
Yep. Loved this episode
Only thing I was disappointed in was no Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack. Because in a couple of the clips they put online before the episode it had the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack.
Dirty Randy was funny once but now he’s getting tedious. Rafi is still funny, but only in small doses. Rafi’s that level of crazy that show how sane the League members are.
it’s one episode, it’s not like this is how the show is going to be going forward.
if you like the characters but can’t even handle a 20 minute chunk of them, then i don’t think you like the characters.
If you thought this was the best episode of the series you aren’t wrong, but your sense of humor is that of a 12 year old. Save a few good lines, this was terrible.
“but your sense of humor is that of a 12 year old”
only you think that’s a bad thing
Hey, props to you if you can state “I have the sense of humor of a 12 year old” out loud and be happy about it.
I watch The League and shows like it so I am sure as hell not claiming to have high brow sensibilities. The show used to be clever and witty. Now it’s just a whole lot of predictable gags screamed at the top of everyone’s lungs. The Accused joke was funny, but Rafi referring to it as a romantic comedy is kind of expected.
So as to not be a total negative asshole, pocket hotdogs is so subtle sometimes that I do fall out of bed laughing.
It was a wonderful episode. I loved the dark humour
“I will even admit that The Accused joke probably went over the line. JESUS. I’m not saying I didn’t laugh, but I felt bad about it.”
you are such a pussy.
Pfft. She had an audience and did the show of her life because she loved it!
I love Jason Mantzoukas, especially as Rafi, but a little goes a long way. I didn’t enjoy this episode as much as I thought I would. I should probably stop watching them at 6:30 AM when I’m not awake yet.
He’s very entertaining on How did this get made, too
I thought this episode was terrific, but I saw A LOT of backlash on Twitter last night. Is there something wrong with me?
Also, I’m lighting a candle for Rafi.
I didn’t see much backlash on twitter last night. I really enjoyed the episode. In addition to lighting that candle, have a pocket dog and pour out the bong water.
People complaining are the same people who say they like dark humour until the humour actually gets dark.
Wait, is Rafi dead for real? Because if that’s true i will start a riot. I need my (almost) weekly dose of Rafi.
it did say one year later…twice so he’s dead in 2 seasons
Batman is a documentary
They mad a lot of those documentaries.
Yeah, it’s about Bruce Wayne.
They just came out with three new documentaries! Do you guys know what a documentary is? Yea, it’s not-porn!
This is the best Beverly Hills Cop remake/retooling/sequel of all time, the franchise should now be put to rest.
I got a big kick out of the music they kept using. Totally reminded me of Beverly Hills Cop II.
i agree the music was Great
Dirty Randy just needs his own show. It would only come on twice a month, though, so as to not ruin the splendor.
I am concerned this keeps rafi in los angeles for a whole year leading up to his death and we actually get no more rafi on the show.
Didn’t enjoy this episode at all. The characters are meant for small and great cameos, not full on episodes of The League without The League cast…
RIP Rafi? NO! How is Michael Jackson taking it?
Nah, but I think it would be fun to imagine him re-writing that episode
If you didn’t like this episode…one, you’re fucking wrong. Two, just don’t consider it an episode of the League. Just fucking let it exist as it is…pure gonzo genius.
The only gonzo genius to ever exist is Hunter S. Thompson.
I honestly think what happened last night would get the ether soaked approval of Hunter S. Thompson.
I’m probably alone on this but I didn’t much care for this episode. There. I said it.
You’re not alone.
It was not my favorite either. This season so far has been disappointing.
RAFI 4 LIFE
Excellent casting. I’d buy Kevin Nealon as a porn king of Los Angeles.
In the preview I was really hoping he’d be playing Doug Wilson.
It almost felt like a backdoor pilot. Had Rafi not died and Seth didn’t have a successful movie career, I could see Cinemax picking it up as a series.
I’m glad you wore your nice flipflops.
I was excited to see Dana White as well.
Small cameo; I was hoping for more than just a goon. DW has range damn it!
Dirty Randy is not a funny character. He’s a rip off of every low life degenerate persona that has ever been seen in comedy without adding anything new or unique. Doesn’t do it for me.
Dirty Randy is easily the worst character on the show
He’s better than Andre’s now ex-fiancé.
Hmm…good point. Put those two together in a cage match and let them sort it out.
So hes basically every Seth Rogen character ever?
He plays off of Rafi well but if it was just him it would have definitely gotten old very quick.
Rafi accepting the deal just as Dirty Randy shoots Kevin Nealon in the chest was great, as was the duel while running down the steps
“We have not been on the same page this whole trip.”
For some reason the scene of them shooting Nealon made me laugh the most
Weeds couldn’t kill Doug but Dirty Randy did it in 2 minutes.
“Jodie Foster is my favorite actor”
” I love that guy!”
“He was great in Nell!”
The fact that they both unequivocally believe that Jodie Foster is a dude made that joke so much more hilarious.
I know I’ll be in the minority here, but this episode was a struggle for me to get through. Rafi is great in small to medium doses and Dirty Randy is good in even smaller doses. Seth Rogen is the new Jack Black. Have they had they discussion about the Batman movies being documentaries before? I’ve heard that either on another show/movie or they’ve done that before.
My favorite lines, though:
-I’ve got a lot of pent up investigating to do.
-Me, too. I’ve got blue clues
-I’d like to investigate aaaall over these clues
-Who’s in it?
-That dude…Jodie Foster.
Was it harder to get through than the last couple of shitty episodes though? Really? I’d take this over the flailing crap they’ve had the last couple of weeks.
Last week wasn’t good, no, but it was still better than this. Barely, but it was. The first two episodes were funny, but these last two, not so much. They’ve just had moments
I’m beginning to think Always Sunny and The League can’t both be on point at once
They do have this weird thing going where if one is meh, the other is good
It was great, but you are right, they are better in small doses. In a whole episode, they start to seem normal, not as bizarre as they really are.
Best episode of the league ever. I would watch these two over the rest of the cast all day. This shows been really falling off for me. Unfortunately prob back to more of the same “oh you dress so stupid Andre” next week.
I agree, I thought this was the best episode of the season by miles.
I don’t understand why people need to bitch (not you guys, but there’s two or three people above who need to resign from uproxx) about an episode that seems to exist specifically to point out that if Rafi’s insanity was the focus of an entire episode, it would always be a series of impossible shit resulting in his death.
Loved the use of Manzoukas signature line from HowDidThisGetMade in “This plan. Is. Flawless.” Loved everything about this episode, t’was a nice breather after all the over-reliance on football guests and predictable Andre-is-the-butt-of-the-joke jokes.
YOU TOLD ME TO TAKE CARE OF THE CAR!
So when I asked you to take care of my mom’s cat?
The cat line was great.
“We are not on the same page!”
“Your fetishes are getting really specific.”
Somehow, I was expecting more nudity. Glad I was wrong on that..
Time to pour out the bong water for Rafi.
The stripper in nr. 10 probably got a day off from working in the Charming whorehouse.
ha ha, probably
I loved the whole bit in the police station.
Bald = Nazi
But only full bald.
I look forward to the reveal that Rafi wasn’t killed, it was his brother Jafi played by Damian Sandow.
Or they could pull a Beerfest.
I thought David Krumholtz was Joey Fatone.
Really thought they were going to take the midget in an “Orphan” direction. Maybe next time.
So, is this their way to kill off Rafi?
I think this may have been their way of shutting down any calls for a rafi spinoff
A Rafi spinoff might be too much. He’s awesome in small doses that completely offset a “normal” scene, but an entire episode makes me feel slimy. I can’t even imagine his own show.
Loved the first half of the episode, thought it lost steam at the end.
I’ve got Blue Clues and the Accused jokes won the night for me.
And yeah, going to hell for laughing at the Accused jokes.
That Accused joke killed me . . .
Pretty sure we’re all going to the same Accused laughing hell.
Rafi’s supply of pocket dogs appears to be never-ending. I am jealous.
I counted at least 6.
I need pants that can accommodate that many pocket dogs.
The hot dog gag got me laughing out loud, especially since early on in the bar when the phone rings, he’s like maybe it’s one of my hot dogs and pulls out the phone. I was like wtf?
Then at the library he pulls out the dog and starts eating, great pay off
@Kasrith. I believe the pocket dogs were introduced in an earlier episode.
Are you thinking what Im thinking? What, that I really need to take a shit after the 3 hot dogs I ate coming over here? That made me laugh out loud.
I’m very concerned that they wrote off my favorite character in the show.
here here – it was fun till the very end.
What’s weird is it didn’t occur to me until seeing people comment on the episode that Raffi was meant to actually be dead. I just assumed they would ignore what happened, and he’d return like nothing happened.
He died “1 year later”, so I assume he can still pop up this season alive and well, or at least as well as Rafi could be
Plus, at the very end he sends an email to “Brian” telling him he’s dead and to avenge him. My guess is he’s not really dead.
Here’s hoping he comes back just to haunt Brian
If Rafi is dead we riot.
I really hope he isn’t really dead.
Granted he’s usually better in small doses, but this episode was great too.
I just hope he’s still around.
So we get this season and next season. then dead. that bummed me out.
I don’t believe he’s really dead for a second.
Oh, he’ll be back.
Maybe I missed something but to me they wrote in the way the viewer had no clue of knowing when it actually took place in The League canon. So when him and Dirty Randy go to LA could have taken place after the series is over.
Rafi is one of the best & creepiest characters out there. His random pop-ins make an episode go over the top. He just can’t be gone!!
The baby stuff in the car seems to suggest it’s in line with recent episodes. You don’t use a pacifier that long. And you definitely buy a new one after Rafi uses it.
