If it sounded like somewhere in the neighborhood of 6.6 million people started screaming “No. Todd. NO. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO” at about 9:45ish last night, there’s a good reason for that: Breaking Bad picked up another 200,000 viewers despite some pretty stiff competition, breaking the ratings record it set just last week.
The AMC drama’s penultimate episode, “Granite State,” inched up from the previous record set last week with 6.4 million viewers — up against the Emmys, NFL football and the series finale of Showtime’s Dexter.
Among adults 18-49, the series was also at a high with 4.3 million viewers. It also scored with adults 25-54, averaging 3.7 million viewers. [THR]
This ratings snowball effect for the show brings up two pretty interesting questions: First of all, will next week’s series finale be able to top that 6.6 million figure despite going up against a marquee Sunday night football game (Patriots at Falcons) and the season premieres of Homeland and The Good Wife at 9 p.m. (along with a slew of other premieres, as we discussed here)? And second, I want someone to hit Todd in the head with a shovel. Admittedly this last thing is neither a question nor an issue related to the show’s ratings, but I just wanted to get it on the record somewhere.
Anyway, I’ll be over here watching these two videos pretty much non-stop between now and Sunday, if any of you need me.
I want more like this!
