The New Gregor ‘The Mountain’ Clegane On ‘Game Of Thrones’ Is Scary Ripped

Game of Thrones is going through Gregor Cleganes quicker than the Cleganes do horse heads to chop off. The latest actor to step into the Mountain’s brutish stained-with-brains shoes, after Conan Stevens left due to scheduling problems after season one and Ian Whyte allegedly backed off because he had a hard time connecting to him, is Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who looks like he could crumble a mountain with a single punch if he wanted to.

The Icelandic actor announced the casting on his Twitter. “For all my fans! I am happy to tell you that I will be THE MOUNTAIN In season 4 In Game of Thrones :),” he said with a smiley face, before finding a cute kitten to eat for a snack, probably. According to Big Don’s Boys, which is somehow both more and less homoerotic than it sounds, the 6’9″ Björnsson “won several contests in 2010, including Strongest Man in Iceland, Iceland’s Strongest Viking, [and] Westfjords Viking.” He also finished third in the World’s Strongest Man competition last year. Expect whomever placed first to take over as the Mountain in season five, after Björnsson mysteriously “disappears.”
