Jay Pharoah To ‘SNL’: Where The Black Women At?

It’s a good thing no news stories involving black women ever happen. Otherwise, SNL would be boned. As you know by now, after staring at Mike O’Brien’s creepy mustache, SNL hired six new cast members over the offseason, all of whom are as white as the typical Arcade Fire fan. This is worrisome in about 485 ways, including: what happens when Michelle Obama and Beyoncé stab each other to death and Maya Rudolph is pregnant with Baby #17?

Jay Pharoah recently voiced his concerns about the show’s lack of diversity to the Grio.

“They need to pay attention,” Pharoah said. “Her name is Darmirra Brunson…Why do I think she should be on the show? Because she’s black first of all, and she’s really talented. She’s amazing. She needs to be on SNL. I said it. And I believe they need to follow up with it like they said they were going to do last year.”

Brunson’s actually employed by OWN at the moment, an actress on Tyler Perry’s Love Thy Neighbor, but Pharoah insists she’s just what the variety show needs. (Via)
