Teachers today don’t have it easy. They have to face bureaucratic pressure from administrators, meet with nosy parents demanding to know why Lil’ Timmy got a C on his English project when he deserved at least a C+, and see Lil’ Timmy five days a week, ten months a year. Plus, they’re forced to listen to their students recite Geico’s worse-than-that-damn-pig “Hump Day” ad incessantly, which is far worse than anything Mr. Prezbo dealt with.
It’s the Geico Hump Day commercial, but it doesn’t have everyone laughing. Some Vernon teachers say the phrase is catching on so much that it’s becoming disruptive in their classrooms.
“Everybody’s walking around in the hallways and saying its hump day in that weird voice,” said Brooke Lewis, who is a student at Vernon Center Middle School.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mary P. Conway said some sixth-grade boys at Vernon Center Middle School started using the phrase so much, teachers said it was disruptive. (Via)
I never thought I’d long for the days of “BUD-WEIS-ER,” yet here we are. What we should be really worried about is how rapidly Geico has gone from a lizard to a pig to a camel in their commercials; every animal is bigger than the one that came before it. It’s only a matter of time before that camel becomes a lion becomes an elephant becomes one of those big ass hornets that I’m too afraid to read about it but I’m assuming it’s bigger than an elephant becomes a giant squid. How fast is Geico expanding? Faster than a blue whale swimming to attack a giant squid.
And then the whale will kill us all, in 15 minutes or less. *mandolin strum*
