Merry Christmas: Here's A Supercut Of The Best News Bloopers Of 2013

We do our best to keep you abreast of all the best individual news bloopers as they happen throughout the year, but let’s be honest here: the ideal delivery system for these clips is a long supercut, with dozens of them lined up back-to-back-to-back. I think it probably has something to do with momentum. Like, yes, watching some rascal ruin a live shot by doing an obscene dance in the background is very funny. But watching three, four, five of them in a row? Transcendent. Same with people taking tumbles on-air, or cussing, or falling victim to little Freudian slips and realizing it about eight words into the next sentence. One is great, more is better. It’s basic math.

All of this is to say that you really need to find 15 minutes today and watch this compilation of the best news bloopers of 2013. They’re all in there: the “KAPOOYOW” lady, the cussing guy from Bismarck, the frisky baboon, etc. The best part, for me, was that I had actually forgotten about some of them, so this video was a little like running into old friends. “Hey! Hugh Janus Guy! How the hell are you? What’s it been, eight, nine months? Wow. So great to see you. You still have the same number? You do? Great. I’m going to call you. We need to grab lunch and catch up. Have you ever tried Mike Hawk’s Steakhouse?”

I hope next’s year compilation is six hours long. I’ll make a day of it.
