‘The Daily Show’ Gave Out Awards For ‘Breaking Down Racial Barriers That Nobody Was Asked To Break’

On the week we celebrate (usually poorly) Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday The Daily Show dedicated a segment last night to taking a look back at how far we’ve come with race relations as Senior Black Correspondent Larry Wilmore presented his 1st Annual Wilmore Awards recognizing, “outstanding achievement in breaking down racial barriers that nobody was asked to break.”

Good times were then had by all (who are open-minded enough to have a laugh at race relations). Highlights include NAACP Award nominees, the wrecking ball statue itself, and Jon Stewart’s inability to not stick his foot in his mouth.
