I could sit here and make up some topical reason to pay tribute to Hot Fuzz, but being topical is overrated, and Hot Fuzz is super awesome and that's really all the reason I need. That, and out of respect for Simon Pegg and Nick Frost I found myself adding Paul to my Netflix queue the other day even though I know I'm going to be disappointed by it, which got me to thinking I should probably just rewatch Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead over and over again instead. Topical enough?
I doubt "Tumblr-friendly" is the visual style Edgar Wright is going for when he makes movies but it certainly works out that way. His films translate to shareable images and GIFs better than any other director I can think of. I may be forced to do a "Best of #Scott Pilgrim" sooner rather than later simply to due the surplus of cool material out there. But for now prepare to be punched in the face by the Point Break tier awesome that is #Hot Fuzz.
I saved the super graphic GIFs for the final slides as a favor to those of you who are squeamish or have never seen the movie. Consider yourself being judged if either happen to be the case.

Hot Fuzz is a WILDLY underrated movie! Better than “Shaun of the Dead?” Better than “Shaun of the Dead!”
Come at me bro…
@Schmoove: I hesitated to make that claim because I love them both, but I’m with you.
Have you seen their Star Wars …ahem…attempt ? (Not Paul). Hilarious.
No gif of the kick to the old woman’s face? Come on!
@Otto Man: Didn’t see one. Will add immediately if you point me in the right direction.
Watched HOT FUZZ and SHAUN OF THE DEAD this weekend and they *still* rock. But they left me hungry for a Cornetto though. [bit.ly]
It’s always great to watch Hot Fuzz with someone who hasn’t seen it before. Their facial expression when the chunck of church pulverizes the guy’s head is priceless. This moment is matched by the part when Timothy Dalton says, “This really hurts,” and they don’t know whether to scream or laugh. Love this movie.
“Not everyone is a murdering psychopath.” You know you read that with his accent/intonation.
Paul isn’t the follow you to Shaun of the Dead & Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim is. And it’s awesome!
Auteur theory, mother fuckers! It’s not the stars it’s the (writer/)director.
