SNL Beat Pete Hoekstra To His Racist Ad By Two Decades

Pete Hoekstra, best known outside Michigan for getting pantsed by Twitter, is the challenger to Michigan senator Debbie Stabenow. Well, he was. It’s unlikely his campaign is going to get very far now that he’s run an ad featuring an Asian woman…riding a bicycle…across a rice paddy…with a straw hat…and backing “Chinese” bed music…while Speaking broken English.

If you immediately stopped it after the first two seconds because you’re allergic to racism, here’s what she says:

“Thank you, Michigan Senator Debbie Spenditnow. Debbie spends so much American money. You borrow more and more from us. Your economy get very weak. Ours get very good. We take your jobs. Thank you, Debbie Spenditnow.”

The funny thing is, for a guy who really wants Michigan dollars to stay in Michigan, Hoekstra seems hazy on what that means: the ad was shot in California. Also, not shockingly, he seems unable to understand cliches: he literally appears in this ad in front of a roaring fire, because that totally clinched the election for Tom Dewey! Even members of his own party are cringing over this one.

Hoekstra’s campaign aired this ad during the Super Bowl, meaning they spent most of Monday apologizing and taking the ad off the air. Oh, wait, no, they instead disabled the dislike buttons on YouTube and said that anybody who thinks the ad was racist, like, doesn’t understand the economy and how we’re totally losing jobs to the Chinese. They also called it “satirical,” which didn’t work the last time a political group said something boneheadedly racist, either.

Yeah, maybe they should watch the news.

Anyway, here’s the same ad, only two decades ago and starring Rob Schneider as a Mexican:

Guys, when Rob Schneider beats you to your ad by two decades, it’s time to get into a new line of business. Maybe ditch-digging?
