Leonardo DiCaprio paid a visit to Ellen DeGeneres to talk about The Revenant. While he did not address the Great Bear Rape Hoax of 2015, Leo did speak about fear and what it can do to a man. The theme aligns with The Revenant‘s story, but I have to wonder whether the bear subject was off the table.
Make no mistake, pre-approved topics are standard with the talk show circuit, so Leo’s team must have had a hand in these questions. Ellen is a cooperative host, and she gamely asked Leo, “What’s the scariest thing you’ve ever done?” His answer arrived at around the 3:00 mark:
“I was on a plane to Russia, and the engine exploded. I was looking out the window, and the entire engine turned into a fireball. It was right after Sully had that thing happen to him where the geese flew into his … This happened in both of the engines, and I was the only person who happened to SEE this. It was a flaming fireball, and it was all Russian passengers, and I kind of felt like I’d already died and gone to Heaven because no one said anything, and I was screaming at the top of my lungs.”
Does this story sound real? Leo was on a plane to Russia. Both engines blew out of the plane. He still landed safely. No one noticed the dual-engine failure besides Leo. The pilot, crew, passengers, and the Victoria’s Secret model Leo was dating were all completely unaware of the situation. Leo screamed his head off, and still, no one noticed. I’m not accusing the guy of making this sh*t up, but are we sure he was entirely sober during the flight? Perhaps he was method acting; it’s never too early to prepare for that Oscar.
