You're Not Crazy, After All: Twitter Confirms Unfollow Bug

True story: Over the course of the last couple of years, I’ve received three emails from a friend — one who subscribes to one of those awful services that notifies you whenever someone unfollows you on Twitter — asking why I unfollowed her on Twitter? Each time I’ve responded with some variation of, “Wait, WHAT?!”, because I didn’t unfollow her. But when I’d go to her Twitter page — whatdoyaknow, it’d say that I wasn’t following her. So I’d follow her again, but each time I doubt she believed me when I insisted that I hadn’t unfollowed her.

But now, finally, VALIDATION IS MINE!!!

Reports the Telegraph:

The microblogging company has now admitted that there is a problem. A Twitter spokesman said: “This is a bug, and our team is working to fix it.”

The bug is causing Twitter users to randomly unfollow people without account holders’ prior consent or knowledge. Twitter has advised affected people to visit its support page and go to fellow tweeters’ profile pages to check whether they are still following them or not.

See, we all weren’t going crazy after all — an unfollow bug really does exist! Harry Crane is delighted by this news…

Now cue the lawsuits from people who’ll claim their relationships with other people fell victim to the bug. It’s going to happen. Just you wait and see.
