A couple of hours ago dimly lit human Twitter fail Ashton Kutcher tweeted out a link to a fake dating video in which he plays a variety of male characters seeking romance — one of which being an Indian guy he portrays in brown face. Because darkening one’s skin is socially unacceptable in 2012, the video — a web ad for Popchips, of which Kutcher is the celebrity spokesperson — has caused a bit of an uproar.
Leading the outrage charge on Twitter, sort of ironically given their name, is Das Racist, two of whose three members are Indian.

Tech startup person Anil Dash, also Indian, is pissed as well, writing, “I can’t imagine I have to explain this to anyone in 2012, but if you find yourself putting brown makeup on a white person in 2012 so they can do a bad ‘funny’ accent in order to sell potato chips, you are on the wrong course. Make some different decisions.”
Watch the video for yourself…
So is Ashton Kutcher — recently rumored to be dating Mila Kunis (f*ck you, Ashton Kutcher. F*CK. YOU.) — an idiot AND a racist? More than likely not, but he is a bit of an idiot. And this ad isn’t even close to being funny, which only compounds the situation.

He’s a racidiost.
Eh, I think he’s just an idiot who was too stupid to realize what he was doing was racist- he was too busy thinking about how awesome and hilarious he is.
“…he was too busy thinking about how awesome and hilarious he is.”
I got the same feeling years ago when I was trying to figure out why he thought making other successful people have heart attacks was a good idea with his show Punk’d.
Racist my fucking ass. Get over yourselves. Jesus fucking christ – if a dark skinned person puts on light make up and parodies a white guy no one says a fucking word about it. The fucking race card is so fucking overplayed these days it’s ridiculous.
Tell us how you REALLY feel, Johnny.
You’re one of those people who complain that they can’t have a Ms. White America beauty pageant, aren’t you? Wow, it must suck to have to overcome all the white guy stereotypes and racism you face every day. Boo. Hoo. Watch the video, pay attention to Kutcher’s *ahem* racial impression, and think for a minute before you get astride your holier than thou, knee jerk, high horse.
totally agree here johnny. people found chapelle’s white news anchor hilarious and not offensive whatsoever, but my o my, ashton better not pretend to be brown!
Totally right. You know who makes it racists? Bloggers who are SO PC they jump at the chance to yell “racism” in hopes of generating some extra buzz. Was it funny? Nope. Was Chappelle’s white face bit racists? Nope and it was funny. Loosen up your tight buttholes people and learn to recognize something that’s truly racists and something that’s just lame. Playing off old stereotypes doesn’t necessarily make it racist, it just makes it hack. Big difference.
RJ nails it.
But I just had to point out that The Simpsons have been doing the same thing forever. Or do these same PC-race-card idiots think that Apu being brown but voiced by a white actor is OK?
Also worth noting: AK is basically an idiot who given scripts that tell him what to say, has other people doing his make-up, and some ass-clown directing him. So what kind of moron would infer that AK is racist? A fucking moron, that’s who.
He IS a racist…. towards the Hell’s Angels
This guy makes millions and millions and millions and ggghhhhhhh
Where were Das Racist when Mike Myers was making The Love Guru? Oh yeah. On my Ipod. *hums “You Oughtta Know”*
“We just want to be treated like everybody else” – Every minority ever.
“Don’t make fun of us like you to with everybody else” – Every minority ever.
Would it have been less racist if Dany Pudi did the exact same comercial? I mean is it all about the race of the actor? That’s racist.
Anyone offended by the race element needs to get their priorities in order and be 1000x more offended that he got paid to be this unfunny.
I’m wondering where the idea to make this video came from in the first place. That’s what bothers me, brownface or no. He’s just another no-talent whore, who makes money not inspite, but because of what he is.
