Last weekend, 9/11 hero/white affluence performance artist Gwyneth Paltrow nourished her inner aspect by taking in a Kanye West and Jay-Z Watch The Throne concert in Paris, France. At some point she was on the stage, because of course Gwyneth Paltrow would get to be on the stage of a Kanye West and Jay-Z concert in Paris, France, while we were not. She then tweeted a picture of herself on stage with the note, “Ni**as in paris for real.” Yep. That happened.
Would I be bringing this up if it had been tweeted by someone other the whitest woman who ever white-ed? Nope. Am I maybe taking cheap shots at Gwyneth Paltrow because I’m biased and weary of oblivious rich people offering misguided advice through a “lifestyle journal?” Of course. Will I take it back later? I REGRET NOTHING.
Here is the tweet in question and Paltrow’s response to a criticism thereof:

Oh, it’s just the title of the song. She was just meaninglessly tweeting the name of the song playing that second. As one does.

I can’t stand this bitch, but how can you condemn someone for referring to the song by name? If you don’t want people saying it, don’t name it something you don’t want to hear said.
And fuck you, by the way.
The reason people are upset isn’t because she simply said the name of the song, it’s the context she said it in. If she’d have, say, tweeted, “Riding the subway listening to ‘N***as in Paris’”, there wouldn’t be anything made of it. But she posted a pic of Jay-Z & Kanye performing in Paris with the note, “Ni**as in paris for real” which, for many people, crosses a line no white person should cross because it basically translates to “look at these n***as performing in Paris.”
But she is on stage with them, no? the “for real” part means she’s with them live, for real. Whatever, she typed N**as, it’s not like she type the n-word.
Disclaimer: I still think she’s the worst, but people who get their panties in a twist at the slightest perceived racist implication are the worst worst.
samesies!
Also, she looked strangely attractive in those daisy dukes in The Avengers, so I now fully support her in all the things.
Since that’s here in the picture (I think), I let this one slide because more than likely it was actually an assistant that did the actual tweet so she may not be directly to blame.
Now, about all the other incredibly idiotic stuff she says…
I’d love to be mad at Gwyneth Paltrow for this but I have to admit that if I was at a Watch The Throne show in Paris I’d throw racial sensitivity to the wind and make a joke about it.
