Last week Louis C.K. got caught up in the Daniel Tosh rape joke controversy dividing the nation when he tweeted the following at the height of the controversy: “@danieltosh your show makes me laugh every time I watch it. And you have pretty eyes.” Though he made no mention of the rape joke controversy in the tweet, many interpreted it as a show of support for Tosh, something that didn’t exactly go over very well on the internet.
Well last night C.K. appeared on the Daily Show and offered an explanation: he was on vacation in Vermont at the time, completely oblivious to the storm brewing on the internet, when he caught an episode of Tosh’s show on TV and decided compliment him for it. The next thing he knew people were writing headlines like, “Louis C.K. Tweets Love To Daniel Tosh After Rape Joke Flap.”
“I wasn’t reading the internet at the time…I had no idea,” he told Jon Stewart last night. “I’ve been called a rape apologist because I said hi to a guy.”
So now all of you who were disturbed by Louis C.K.’s alleged show of support for Tosh can rest easy and merely lose sleep over the fact that he apparently finds Tosh’s show funny.

I don’t get all the hate against Tosh now. It’s like the Dane Cook thing all over again but Tosh is actually still funny. I know opinions and assholes but I think it’s pretty damn close to the style of Louis CK or Doug Stanhope, and my Pandora Louis CK station backs me up on this. So neener neener

I remember back around 2008, I was a huge fan of three comedians who had not quite blown up at the time: Daniel Tosh, Louis CK, and Bill Burr.
I don’t know what happened to Bill Burr, but I never liked Dane Cook.

I think Tosh is funny. He just has that douchie vibe about him. Not sure I’d want to hang out with the guy, but he does his thing well enough.

I think Louis CK is a genius, and easily the best comic alive. His show is brilliant. With this being said, I think Tosh is very funny, bordering on hysterical, as well. He does have the “douchey fratboy” vibe going, but I thoroughly enjoy his show.
Tosh’s show definitely makes me laugh more than CK’s show.

First Louis CK set I ever saw, he started out with a joke about killing a guy with a bumper sticker he didn’t like and jacking off on the corpse. (this was the same set as the “bag of dicks” joke)
Seems pretty brutal when I type it out like that, but when you watch it, it’s really funny.

Though, I agree that there’s really nothing wrong with Tosh using that schtick, as long as he comes up with his own material.

Well the woman who first made a comment about the rape joke was just acknowledging that that rape is quite often the center of humor and whilst that can make it easier to talk about, it also makes it more normal and less serious; which is not ok. It was the response to the criticism that started the shit storm, it was petty and annoying; they didn’t have to make a response they could have let people just air their opinions without being dicks. Now Louis CK has to go on air and make sure everyone knows that he doesn’t support what happened.
This proves Louis is the funniest man on the planet. He was able to make John Stewart’s show watchable for 5 minutes.
Liking Daniel Tosh does not mean you support rape. It just means you’re stupid and have shitty taste.
