The typical hyperbolic Internet reaction to Disney buying Lucasfilm for $4 billion, and then announcing three more Star Wars movies, went a little something like, “disney bought lucasfilm and is going to put out a 7th star wars movie? excuse me while i drown myself in the stupidity of that decision.” WUT. Nerd raaaaggggeeee.
Anyone who’s afraid that the House of Mouse might wipe little pellets of poop all over the pristine Star Wars empire clearly hasn’t seen The Phantom Menace, or Attack of the Clones, or Revenge of the Sith, or the approximately 73 billion toys and household appliances George Lucas has given the OK to, or the fact that Disney and Star Wars already had a rosy relationship, as seen here. It’s one soulless company buying another soulless company, and honestly, if anything, it’s good news: the worst thing about the prequels was Lucas having total control over the product. HE’S THE MAN BEHIND JAR JAR, PEOPLE.
