Yeah, yeah, “what are your politics doing in my weekend posts? I expect pictures of lady boobs and GIFs, dagnabbit, and them’s the way I like it,” you’re probably saying, to which I respond: I agree. But this video, of a speech Reverend Phil Snider of the Brentwood Christian Church gave in August during a Springfield, Missouri City Council public hearing, via Gawker, is too awesome not to feature.
I won’t “spoil” the ending (the wind didn’t do it), but I do recommend that while listening to Snider speak, you watch the bearded gentlemen in the crowd behind him. His facial expressions are worthy of a single-serving Tumblr. He literally does a *record scratch* double take at one point. I thought only dogs in 1980s teen sex romp comedies did that.
(And because I know someone’s going to say something, I’m obviously referring to Signs in the headline.)

“Are there any questions?”
So many questions…
Only thing this video is missing is a mic drop before he walks off.
What a boss
Simply put: F*CKING AWESOME
Way to go, preacher!
Oh, Hell Yeah. This is fighting the good fight using your intelligence. Love it!
That deserved a standing ovation. Burn baby, burn!

THE LAST AIRBENDER had a twist ending?
This speaker made so many proud. Kate Clinton is another great speaker. Everyone should look her up.
Was anyone truly bamboozled by this seriously sophomoric, “trickery”? The good ole switcharoo? Really??? Regardless how clever he may have thought his bait and switch was, none of what the speaker said diminishes a few key facts: Christianity was a critical element in the success of the abolishment of slavery (yes believe it or not many “white Christian guys believed in racial equality *gasp* ) and racial integration, and that sexual orientation has never been on par with, or equivalent to race. To equate the two is wrongheaded. And yes, the Bible is quite clear that being black or any other color or shade is not sinful while being gay is in direct contradiction to the will of God (per the Bible 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 and many other verses). For example, I am biracial and nothing I can ever do will change that. I can’t stop being biracial regardless of how I might wish to not be so. But…many people have chosen to be bisexual for a time period and then…revert back to heterosexuality. If race and sexuality were equivalent, you could no more switch from being bisexual to heterosexual than an Asian could decided to live as a black person.
