Wow. Just wow. That was…quite a speech. Even from someone we’ve come accustomed to hearing great speeches from, this was, well, quite a speech. My favorite part: Obama labeling Joe Biden as “America’s happy warrior.” Yes. Just yes. Perfect.
Now allow Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, aka Key and Peele, to translate it all for you…
Now I’m going to bed. Goodnight.

Other microphones, all across the nation, actually dropped themselves, they were so stirred by that speech.
It was amazing. I clapped and yelled in my living room…to Colorado legalizing (hits bong), Oh, and the speech was excellent as well.
I’m usually pretty immune to political speeches, but that was seriously one of the few times I was proud to be watching a speech as it happened live. All of my cynicism just fell to the wayside through out it. I kept waiting for him to lose the momentum, but it just kept building right up till the end.
I have always been pretty conservative, but the rabid hatred for President Obama that has come from the right has bothered me during these past 4 years. While I don’t agree with all his politics, I have to say I’m damn proud to have him as my President.
Whole night came off a lot better than I was figuring on. How many states just legalized gay marriage, PLUS CO’s weed dealy. It’s been a doozy.
Four more states in the gay marriage column. DOMA’s toast.
You know what else was missing from his speech: any semblance of an actual plan to get us out of this fucking mess that Bush and he have caused over his next four years. I didn’t vote for him and I refuse to respect him as a President until he actually does something that actually puts this country on the right track. Rant at me if you want, but remember there’s approximately 49 percent of people in this country (at least at this writing) who are right there with me.
Who knew that measures to get a country out of fiscal hell would take more than four years to bear fruit? It only took FDR 12 years and the manufacturing boon that was World War II to do it. HOW HARD COULD THIS POSSIBLY BE?!?!?!
Actually it took Hitler invading Europe for FDR to get us out of the Great Depression, but I agree with your general idea. I’m willing to give him another four years to see if he can lead us out of this mess.
nipp- it took ronald two to turn negative gdp into positive from historys greatest monster. why shouldnt we expect that change?
Actually, 49 percent of the country voted for Romney. None of them agree with you.
The 49% who voted for Romney include the people who believe in any or all of the following:
1. creationism over science
2. that LGBT people do not deserve the same civil rights as everyone else
3. that black people are inferior
4. that Obama was born in Kenya
5. that Obama is a muslim
6. that 9/11 was an inside job
7. insert completely fucking retarded believe X here
I’m glad those 49% have chosen to identify themselves for the rest of us to openly mock.
I think this had been my favorite part of the entire last year+ of the campaigns: people who are upset Obama’s victory speech hasn’t resulted in a complete turnaround of the economy.
the % who voted for obama include the people who believe in any or all of the following
1) not paying mortage or gas
2) free phones
3) doesnt matter what his policies still want obama

Thanks Cajun Boy! Keep up the great work. This Uproxx site is totally BITCH’in (drops headphones)
BRING ON SOUTH PARK
This whole election process is actually an elaborate South Park episode set up
how bout that stock market huh?
social issues > national debt. This country has really got its priorities in order! YAY AMERICA!
“the belief that our destiny is shared”
See, the way it works is that you’re all in this together. I know that Republicans tend to see the world as ‘every man for themselves except whenever it’s convenient to believe that we’re all in this together’ but, really, you’re all in this together.
Yeah we will really all be together when our country goes broke and we all eventually have to stand in line for food stamps given to us by China. “Equality at last!” everyone will be forced to say.
And it will all be Obama’s fault, amirite?!
Then blame the House of Representatives who refuse to pass any bills because they hate Obama and wanted him out of the White House instead of actually doing anything.
Also the deficit is a red herring, you spend and tax during hard times. Every competent economist knows this.
Did anyone else see the Obama yarmulke in the crowd at 8:40? The Obamulke?
Am I the only one not impressed by the speech?
We’ve heard this before…NOW GO DO IT.
This. He sure makes with the pretty words, but too bad about his execution.
I just love the demographics of the election.
Groups that Obama won.
1. Blacks
2. Hispanics
3. Young People
4. Women
5. Gays and Lesbians.
Groups that Romney won
1. Old white men and…most of the former confederacy states. Hmmm… coincidence, I think not
Now, now, it wasn’t JUST the confederacy. There are plenty of racists, loonies, ultra-right Christians, and creationists that voted for Romney in the blue states, too. He did a pretty good job of tying up the “wrong side of history” vote.
I think the biggest problem is the incendiary rhetoric being spewed between the two parties. Maybe if instead of posturing and bitching we tried compromising on issues and working together to solve the many many problems facing us today we might be able to see even more progress in the next 4 years than we did in the first 4. Maybe then Business Ape can stop being such a dick too.
