As you may have heard, the National Rifle Association (NRA) finally commented on last Friday's school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut -- in the forum of a press conference held by chairman Wayne LaPierre in which the press was not allowed to ask any questions -- and boy was it a doozy. The short version: America needs to create an army of armed gunmen (good guys) to defend children in classrooms from armed lunatics (bad guys).
Naturally, as it is wont to do whenever something ridiculous happens, Twitter collectively had some pretty funny and interesting things to say about it. On the following pages are a few of my personal favorites.

I feel like the NRA stole their plan from the Cold War, if the bad guys have guns we’ll just get more! The NRA is pretty much advocating for a public arms race to stop gun violence.
My roommate is a card-carrying NRA member and he sounds like a broken record when shootings happen. Aurora: “If I was in that theater and had my glock, I would have put him down right away.” Okay, Marky Mark. “WHAT IS AN ASSAULT WEAPON? Define what a fucking assault weapon is because OBAMA sure isn’t doing it. It’s probably part of his plan to trick us into banning ALL guns because that Kenyan hates freedom.” Yeah, I need a new roommate…
Uuuuggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. You poor bastard.
Some people have guns and don’t want to use them on people! Can you imagine?
Well played Danger, well played.
If assault rifles were still banned nothing bad would ever happen.
These guys REALLYneed a new PR company. Yikes.
#11′s my favorite. Rock solid collection here.
I love how he shakes his head at the sign wielding crazy man and then goes on to play the part of crazy man on a podium.
I love that the head of the most right wing, militant, conservative and dare I say rednecky organization in the country is a damned Frenchman.
Bet the membership loves that. “Good speech Pepe La Pew!!”
On the 1 year anniversary of the Columbine shooting President Clinton requested $60 million dollars in federal money to fund a program called “Cops in School” which was essentially the same plan as the NRA’s now.
no it was not even “essentially” the same plan. but hey, nice try on the distraction.
