All Lens Flare Everything: The Best Images & GIFs Reacting To J.J. Abrams Directing ‘Star Wars’

George Takei: You see, the show was banned after the Star Trek Wars.
Zapp Brannigan: You mean after the vast migration of Star Wars fans?
Nichelle Nichols: No, that was the Star Wars Trek.

In a way, it feels like the Futurama episode “Where No Fan Has Gone Before” called yesterday’s Internet-quaking news that J.J. Abrams, the creator of Felicity and Lost, will direct the next Star Wars movie…EVEN THOUGH HE’S DIRECTING STAR TREK, TOO. This is grounds for treason for many, on the level of a Boston Red Sox becoming a New York Yankee, while for the rest of us normal people, it’s as “OK, sure” as a…Boston Red Sox becoming a New York Yankee. I’m sure Abrams, who breathed life back into the Star Trek franchise, will do the same for Star Wars, and we’ll all live happily every after. Live long and force no one can hear you scream, Harry Potter.

But Internet reaction to the news was immediate, and within mere minutes, fans of both wars and trek in stars were designing lens flare posters, parody GIFs, and John Locke with Yoda on his back. Here are some of the best spoofs.
