When the Obama White House launched the “We The People” tool on its website, it had no idea that it’d explode in popularity like it has, what with successful petitions being launched to blow up the Death Star and whatnot.
In response, the White House is raising the threshold for the number of signatures a petition needs to garner an official response from President Obama to 100,000 from the current 25,000. Apparently, too many people are launching hilarious petitions that are taking up the time of the world’s most powerful man.
Starting today, as we move into a second term, petitions must receive 100,000 signatures in 30 days in order to receive an official response from the Obama Administration. This new threshold applies only to petitions created from this point forward and is not retroactively applied to ones that already exist.
In the last two months of 2012, use of We the People more than doubled. In just that time roughly 2.4 million new users joined the system, 73,000 petitions were created and 4.9 million signatures were registered.
Now, when you have a second, take time to sign the most important White House petition of all time: the one demanding the president issue an executive order forcing NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to return the New Orleans Saints 2nd round draft pick. It’s the least our do-nothing POTUS can do!

Have you guys seen this one? [petitions.whitehouse.gov] LOL
lol, they’ve already deleted that one. But it was something like this:
“Happy bday Nicolas Cage. In honor of this sacred day I started a petition to get the Obama Administration to remake the recent Avengers movie and have Nicolas Cage play all the acting roles. Please check it out.”

i signed yours, you sign mine?
This is dumb anyway because the Whitehouse has been selectively picking petitions to answer with little to no regard to number of signatures. They continue to ignore the petition about Westboro Baptist which was well above 75,000 two weeks ago but answered the White House beer recipe one before it broke 15,000. Its all a bunch of bullshit.
Petition to reduce number of signatures required for an official response back to 25,000
