Someone’s Gonna Be Disappointed: 20 Of George Carlin’s Most Poignant Jokes

At the beginning of his post about Patton Oswalt’s Boston bombings Facebook note, Cajun Boy wrote, “Oswalt, in addition to being one of the funniest humans on the planet, is also one of the wisest and most eloquent.” The same could have been said of George Carlin, though you might want to add an “angry” after “funniest.” Carlin, who passed away in 2008, was the best at taking a huge topic and minimizing it down to the bullsh*t that it really is.

He’s sorely missed, but not forgotten: current God-of-comedy Louis C.K. thanked Carlin in the credits of his recent HBO special and admitted in an email that he picked the Celebrity Theater, where Oh My God was filmed, because “George Carlin shot one in that same place, which hasn’t changed a bit since he did his in 1977.”

In honor of Mr. Denis Patrick Carlin, here’s a collection of 20 of his most poignant, angry, funniest jokes.
