A press release notes the song "taps into the album’s underlying themes of societal and political unease." The tune sees Talbot delivering a dub-inspired vocal performance. Khruangbin Celebrate Ten Years Of Their Debut Album With New Versions Of Every Song

Today (November 6) marks the ten-year anniversary of Khruangbin's 2015 debut album, The Universe Smiles Upon You. The band decided to revisit the project in a fun way to celebrate, as today, they've shared The Universe Smiles Upon You ii, a re-imagined and re-recorded version of the project. Laura Lee Ochoa, the band's bassist, told Rolling Stone, "The thought was like, 'We'll just do it all over again. And it will be us 10 years later with the same instruments in the same location, and it'll be different because we're different.' But as the date neared, it was sort of,…

The Top 20 Rye Whiskeys To Try Before You Die

Rye whiskey is on the rise. While the category had one foot in the grave for decades, the so-called "bourbon boom" of the mid-aughts inadvertently led to a resurgence of rye whiskey. This style was originally king in America before a series of mishaps caused it to fall out of favor, but savvy enthusiasts have forced the hand of some of the country's biggest distilleries. Producers who formerly made rye whiskey only once a year have expanded to produce juice for weeks at a time, meeting the demand of thirsty consumers and innovating along the way. I felt it was…

Gunna Expands His Wunna Run Club And ‘Wun World’ Tour With A Slew Of New Dates For Both

I don't think anyone had Gunna being that friend that turns 30 and gets really into marathons on their BINGO card for 2025, but hey, rappers make everything at least 10 percent cooler. So, if Gunna inspires more people to get fit while chasing clout, I'm all for it. His New York event in September brought out over 1,000 runners, according to a press release, and it wouldn't be surprising to see similar numbers or an increase at future runs. Today, Gunna announced the expansion of his Wunna Run Club with a bunch of new dates. And, speaking of "new…

Ken Carson’s DIY ‘Catastrophe’ Video Gives A Glimpse Of Life After ‘Chaos’

A week after releasing "Yes," his first single since April's More Chaos, Ken Carson returns with the video for "Catastrophe." The sparse video feels like a DIY effort, with Ken rapping directly to what looks a lot like a phone camera in a bedroom being used as a storage closet. Lyrically, the song is a loose stream of boasts with relatively simple rhyme patterns and no specific theme or through line. So, you know. A Ken Carson song. Someone out there likes it; the Atlanta rapper went No. 1 with More Chaos earlier this year. For the time being, those…

Ice Spice Flaunts Her ‘Pretty Privilege’ In Her Fashionable New Video

Ice Spice's comeback continues with "Pretty Privilege," the follow-up single to "Baddie Baddie," which dropped a couple of weeks ago. Like nearly all of her output to date, "Pretty Privilege" is produced by RiotUSA, and features Ice boasting about the usuals: Her looks, her money, her (ahem) assets, and how badly all the men around her want a taste. Meanwhile, the song's video is a blend of to-camera performance clips, some from the studio, some from a mansion surrounded by greenery. A variety of camera styles were used, and Ice dons an extensive wardrobe's worth of different looks, from high-end…

‘Arco’: Everything To Know About The New Animated Adventure With A Stacked Voice Cast

For us here in 2025, a distant year like 2075 represents the relatively distant future. For the protagonist of the new animated movie Arco, though, 2075 is actually way, way in the past, since he hails from centuries into the future. That's part of the premise of the new film, the initial version of which is presented in French. The English dub is on the way, though, and it has a pretty stacked voice cast that includes Will Ferrell, Natalie Portman, Mark Ruffalo, and more. Ahead of the movie's release, keep reading for everything you need to know before it…

Charli XCX Teases A New Musical Direction She’s Been ‘Exploring’ Post-‘Brat’

Gwyneth Paltrow, in case you didn't know, hosts a podcast tied to her wellness brand Goop. She gets some good guests and on the latest episode, she speaks with Charli XCX. During the show, Charli gave a bit of a peek into the sound of upcoming music she's been working on. Paltrow asked if Charli is interested in making "super stripped back" music and Charli said: "Yeah, I'm a really big Lou Reed fan, that's kind of my guy. And yeah, I've definitely thought about that. I really like to work in contrast, so I think whatever I do next…

Lil Baby Returns With The Moody ‘Try To Love’ Video

It looks like Lil Baby is ready to get back to work. Today, he released his first new song since the first quarter of 2025, "Try To Love." Its music video, which was shot in Morocco, finds a contemplative Lil Baby on vacation, with a gorgeous view and a lot on his mind. "Thought I found love in Chicago / But she didn't hit me back in the morrow / I guess all those words were just hollow / Thought I found in love in Atlanta / Until she went ghost like a phantom / I don't know why, I…

Holly Humberstone Is Ready For A New Era As She Shares The Atmospheric Single ‘Die Happy’

Holly Humberstone has been on the up-and-up over the past few years. In 2024, the UK singer-songwriter had her first-ever headlining tour of North America. Also that year, she opened for Taylor Swift for The Eras Tour in London. Those major events were preceded by her 2023 album Paint My Bedroom Black. Now she seems to be prepping another LP (although one hasn't been officially announced): Today (November 5), she shared a cinematic new single, "Die Happy." In a statement, Humberstone says of the song: “I wrote ‘Die Happy’ thinking about a fairytale at night, somewhere between driving fast with…

Bktherula’s ‘Sound Check’ Tests Her Wind-Ranging Music Taste With A Neo-Soul Vs. Dubstep Battle

Bktherula is one of hip-hop's most raucous and innovative talents today, so it's only right that the versatile New Yorker would stop by Sound Check to give our host Jeremy Hecht a diverse array of songs to test out her musical taste with. This week's episode sees Bk listening to classic psych-rock hits from Tame Impala and Pink Floyd, a soul vs. dubstep battle between Erykah Badu and Skrillex, Atlanta hip-hop fixtures from Outkast and Jeezy, and real yearner tracks from Mitski and Tyler The Creator. When it comes time for Jeremy to guess Bk's life anthem, it's a tough…

The 1975 Just Removed A Song From Streaming And Another Could Be Next

In recent days, The 1975 fans have noticed something different about 2022’s Being Funny In A Foreign Language: There's a song missing. When the album was initially released, between "Wintering" and "About You" was a song called "Human Too," which as of now has been removed from streaming services. Fans wondered what was going on and Matty Healy himself personally delivered an answer. On Reddit, Healy explained why the song is gone and revealed that the band may cut a song from Notes On A Conditional Form, too. He wrote: "Hey! Human Too was removed from the album so the…

Laufey Is Back In The Holiday Spirit With A Jaunty Rendition Of ‘Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town’

Laufey has left her mark on the holiday season over the past few years, starting with the 2021 release of A Very Laufey Holiday. Annually since then, she has added new recordings to the project. Last year, for instance, she recorded a version of "Santa Baby" that came with a video featuring Bill Murray. This year's addition is out today (November 5), as Laufey shares a rendition of "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town," the holiday standard first published in 1934. Laufey's performance is done in a classic vocal jazz style, a perfectly festive choice for the classic song. Listen…

Megan Thee Stallion Has Saved Rap On The Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 With Her Latest Raunchy Single

For the past couple of weeks, there's been a lot of chatter about a lack of rap songs in the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Since the publication changed the rules to promote more movement on the chart, a bunch of hip-hop tracks fell off after hanging out for truly ridiculous runs. But the hand-wringers and worrywarts can slow down their heart rates: Megan Thee Stallion has arrived to save the day. Her new single "Lover Girl" has brought rap back to the top 40 after a two-week absence, landing at No. 38 despite a less-than-enthusiastic reception…

Ask A Music Critic: What Was The First Great Indie Album?

Welcome to another installment of Ask A Music Critic! And thanks to everyone who has sent me questions. Please keep them coming at steve.hyden@uproxx.com. What do you consider the first great indie album? -- Scott from British Columbia Short and to the point. I like it! However, my answer will be anything but. First of all, while there aren't many words in your inquiry, the ones that are there are subjective. "Great," obviously, is in the eye of the beholder. But so is "indie." Does it describe a business situation, a specific sound, or merely a general vibe? Even "first"…

Geese Just Covered An Iconic ’90s One-Hit Wonder On The BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge

New Radicals' "You Get What You Give" is one of the great '90s songs, but it has also positioned the band as a one-hit wonder. (Singer Gregg Alexander has avoided that fate personally, however, as he co-wrote Sophie Ellis-Bextor's "Murder On The Dancefloor," as well as Santana and Michelle Branch's Grammy-winning 2002 collaboration "The Game Of Love.") The song continues to re-emerge, though. It regularly pops up on TV and in movies, and the band reunited to perform it at Joe Biden's inaugural parade in 2021. Now, Geese have once again brought the song to the forefront by covering it…

Here Is Radiohead’s 2025 Comeback Tour Setlist

It finally happened: Radiohead just performed live for the first time since 2018. They announced the comeback tour in September and it kicked off in Madrid, Spain last night (November 4). Notably, they opened the show with "Let Down," the now-viral hit that Thom Yorke didn't even want on OK Computer. The setlist pulled from across the band's discography, most frequently Hail To The Thief, OK Computer, In Rainbows, and Kid A. Of the tour, Philip Selway previously said in a statement: "Last year, we got together to rehearse, just for the hell of it. After a seven year pause,…

JID And Anycia’s ‘Sun’ Video Is A Somber Ghetto Fairy Tale

JID and fellow ATLien Anycia star in a ghetto fairy tale in the video for "Sun," from JID's new album, God Does Like Ugly. The video opens similarly to The Princess Bride with a woman reading a fairy tale to her young children. However, she's surprised by the book they request, which opens to reveal a modern tour of the Atlanta streets JID and Anycia grew up on. The two rappers display some solid chemistry, with JID's hyperactive delivery bouncing nicely off of Anycia's laconic flow, and both finding fascinating pockets in the slinky beat from Christo, Childish Major, and…

Whitney Teams With Madison Cunningham For ‘Evangeline,’ Their New Album’s Only Collab

Whitney's next few months are about to be busy. The duo has a new album, Small Talk, out this week, and after the release, they'll presumably be getting ready for their world tour that kicks off in February 2026. Ahead of all that, though, they've shared "Evangeline," a new song and the album's only collaboration (with Madison Cunningham). The band's Julien Ehrlich says of the song: "The most crucial moment of writing 'Evangeline' came when, after weeks of failed experiments, we leaned into the theatricality of the chorus. Max put midi timpanis and string pads underneath the vocals and the…

‘Scream 7’: Everything To Know About The Latest In The Iconic Horror Franchise

Three decades later and the Scream franchise is still going. There were a couple decade-long breaks in the mix, but regardless, we have a new one, Scream 7, on the way (after some bumps in the road) and it'll be the third film in four years. In a sense, the series is going back to its roots here: Kevin Williamson is directing, and while it's his first time leading a Scream film, he's written or co-written a bunch of the movies, including the first two. Speaking of OG's, David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and Matthew Lillard are all back…

Kehlani’s ‘Folded’ Efforts Pay Off With The Singer’s First-Ever Hot 100 Top Ten Appearance

Kehlani's new single "Folded" was already one of the singer's most successful songs when they released the Homage Pack remix EP in late October. Thanks to Kehlani's commitment to seeing the song's release cycle all the way through, though, the Bay Area singer has their first-ever Billboard Hot 100 top ten appearance. Originally released in June, followed by the "(Un)folded" remix in July, and powered by a range of remixes, cover versions, and fan-made videos on social media, "Folded" has reached the No. 7 spot on the latest chart update, after a total of 20 weeks. It last landed at…

It's a quick run in early December, with two nights each at Chicago's Thalia Hall, Los Angeles' Teragram Ballroom, and New York's Bowery Ballroom.
