Watch As Michael Bay Bails Midsentence In Awkward CES Press Conference (UPDATE)

(UPDATE: Michael Bay’s official statement at the end.)

Michael Bay, a man of few apologies, just apologized and abruptly walked off the stage during Samsung’s CES press conference. Bay was discussing the new curved UHD TVs with Samsung’s Joe Stinziano when the teleprompter malfunctioned. He said he would have to wing it, then he became awkwardly flustered — Damn you for making me feel sympathy, Michael Bay! — and left the stage.

As much as I want to bash him, I’d probably do the same thing at a public speaking engagement with a broken teleprompter. Sh*t just got a little too real.

And here’s the video:

BOOM. ROASTED.

The conference is still in progress and streaming live here, and who knows? Maybe Bay will return to the stage by the end. Or maybe he’s hugging his pet tiger and detonating ordinance to soothe his nerves.

UPDATE: Michael Bay has posted this statement at his official site.

Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES – I was about to speak for Samsung for this awesome Curved 105-inch UHD TV. I rarely lend my name to any products, but this one is just stellar. I got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP’s intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down – then I walked off. I guess live shows aren’t my thing.

But I’m doing a special curved screen experience with Samsung and Transformers 4 footage that will be traveling around the world.

We’re surprised he didn’t include a plug for Nike shoes this time.
