Hear An Amazing Cover Of David Bowie’s ‘Space Oddity,’ Literally Recorded In Space

Taking the Flight of the Conchords’ premise to its inevitable (and literal) conclusion, Commander Chris Hadfield recorded a cover of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” aboard the International Space Station and uploaded it to YouTube earlier today. (Which is like seven years ago in space time, I think.)

The song, from the Bowie album of the same name, is actually very depressing, with the ill-fated Major Tom cutting off communication from Earth and floating in space. Rest assured, though, that although this is Hadfield’s last transmission aboard the ISS, that’s only because he’s handing the reigns over to Commander Pavel Vinogradov.
